2 dogs have been stolen just today where I live, how can people do this to the dog and owners?Sad
I'm going to be keeping an eye on my boy Everytime he goes to the back garden for a wee, my dog is quite know around my area so I better keep an eye on him, I always do anyway but I'll be even more caution as we don't have a big fence.

It only takes them a few seconds to hop the fence and take them Joe so be extra careful. I don't let Logan outisde without standing at the door watching him. It's a common thing where I live and dog fighting is quite common too.

I couldn't imagine anything worse.

Yea, I don't think anyone would try to steal Dragon as our family's are well known and we'd find him, but I will always be looking out the window to see what he's up to while he's outside Smile

Sadly in todays economic climate this is a problem I see getting worse before it gets better, we all need to be extra vigilant and not let our babies out of our sight.

Yea I'm always careful, a lot of people specially all the "chavs" know that my dog is dog aggressive and has bitten dogs, and normally that's the dogs they'd steal, so I'm always careful when he goes out but I'm going to be even more careful from now on, I don't know what I'd do without my boy.

I just don't know how someone could do this to the owners and also the dogs because the dogs would also be upset.

I think they should invent a microchip that has like a gps in it so if the dogs go missing and have that they can be found and the people should be put in prison! Would stop people from stealing I'm sure.

I'm sure I've read that some people actually try to take the microchip out of stolen dogs, which is horrible Sad so there'd always be a way around it for some people.

You are right Tara, it was on the forum. Sad

There's no chance of stopping these people they will resort to anything. The only way to prevent is to avoid any chance of it happening.

Even then, it still happens Sad

I think the only thing stopping this from happening now is the size of the unit, once they can make them smaller I'm sure they will be used.

I know theres always a way of taking the microchip out but if it has a GPS it would be much easier to get the dog back, on Crufts a dog was missing for years and was found because the person who stole it sold it the other person went to the vets and they seen that he was a stolen dog and was returned, only after years now imagine if they had a micrchip with GPS it would be found the next day...

But youre all right the best way to prevent this from happening is just to watch your dog while its out so people cant steal it.

you only have to look at doglost to see how bad the situation is getting. park walk friend said his bosses dog was stolen from back of a landy last week (springer) and was found at local pikey camp which was raided two days ago and more dogs found.
its mainly working dogs being stolen as pups can go for over a £1000 each or they ask for a ransome for pets, its well sick and then you have the bait dogs....
the stories are terrible and have me watching whos following me out the park and never leave them alone in the garden.

I am now scared, in the last week around 7-10 staffys have been stolen where I live, trust me I live in a small town, didn't even know there were that many staffys where I live! They're using it for dog baiting, my boy is very well known I just hope no one tries to get him, the problem is not letting him out for a wee as I watch him, problem is going out and someone trying to steal him... Not going out by myself with the dog for a while just incase something happens!

I never let Logan out without being with him. I have a 7 foot fence. But it doesn't matter. If Dragon has to go to the toilet, just stand watch at the door. These thieving scum normally do areas in batches over periods of time so it's most likely temporary. Bare with Dragon for a few weeks and it'll pass fella Smile

You can't be too careful; our dogs are never left outside unattended, nor outside shops and we don't even leave them in the car unattended since we heard about two dogs being stollen from a car Sad

We're very lucky where we live as its very quiet and the garden is enclosed on all sides by 5ft fences and gardens all around and then a 6ft gate that is always locked from the inside to access from the front. Consequently though we never leave them in the garden whilst we go out we have no concerns about them being able to access the garden all day whilst we are in

Apparently there's people up my neck of the woods stealing dogs! God help anyone who tries to take my dogs Laughing I never leave them unsupervised in the garden anyway, since a man walked past and fussed Bailey when he was a pup and said something to the effect of 'don't leave him alone as he would get stolen .... He's gorgeous' most likely harmless but can't be too careful these days Sad

If anyone ever stole my boy they'd give him back because he would cry sooo much that they would get annoyed to mention his farts Laughing
But yea I always supervise him while he's in the garden or even out I pay attention to everyone who walks past me Laughing I sound crazy but I'm not just don't trust the people where I live so I'm always very aware of people behind me or coming towards me.

My pup would go with anyone I think Laughing my boy wouldn't, I was doing a bit of training with Sierra today so my mum had Baileys lead and she was about 20ft in front of me and he dug his heels in and wouldn't budge until I caught up Laughing he may be 19kg but when he digs his heels in he feels 90kg Laughing

My boy is the same! I got my girlfriends mum to take Dragon while I dropped Sasha at my mums, I could see Dragon pulling to come to me even though he was going the thier direction Laughing then of we're not in he lays by the door crying, when we knock on the door he goes crazy and jumps up at me, he doesn't jump up often only if we leave when he sees again he goes mad but other than that he never jumps.

Shows how loyal dogs are! Your pup will be like that once its a bit older Smile
