Fish mongers dog food
I saw this in Pets at Home a few weeks ago I was just wondering if anyone has tried it? I feed the dogs raw mince/fish etc as well as Purina Peta biscuits at the moment but I don't think they are very good as Woody gets runny poo sometimes and I doubt that its the meat causing it. I know how a lot of staffies have allergies. Anyhow this is the nutritional stuff for fishmongers

They do look similar, but there are several additives in the fishmonger one that aren't in the fish4dogs one. Whilst I don't think any of them are harmful in any way, they're not really necessary, either. I just wonder why they're there?
How does it work out price for price, taking into account the recommended amounts to feed?

Re: Fish mongers dog food
Fish 4 dogs finest salmon complete food is £49.99 for 12kg so thats the cheapest I think, and for a 20kg dog its 360g per day so that would be £4.10ish per kg and £1.50 per meal I think.
Fishmongers is 29.99 for a 10kg bag and for a 20kg dog thats apparently 268g per day so £2.90 per 1kg and £0.37 per meal, so I'm thinking that it would work out alot cheaper.
But there seems to be big difference between the recommended feeding amounts for the different foods so I'm not sure why that is.
I have also just noticed that the pets at home fishmongers dog treat fish braids and fish chunks look very similar to the Fish4Dogs sea jerky fish twists and fish squares so maybe its like a rebranded version?

Doesn't sound too bad. If you do get some, let us know how you get on with it.

Re: Fish mongers dog food
Yeah but didn't they reduce the fish content or something recently? Fishmongers has 60% fish I think

Re: Fish mongers dog food
What's the kibble size? I notice that Lola doesn't choke on the larger F4D size as she guzzles her food. I feed the Fishmonger braids and chunks - big hit with her ladyship!

Re: Fish mongers dog food
Um it's quite small to be honest a bit smaller than a 5p coin. Another thing I have noticed is that my staff is doing less farts, or at least I can't smell em haha

Re: Fish mongers dog food
Fishmongers food looks good - Lola can't tolerate chicken I want to stay with a good fish based food. Think I will give this a go as have P@H on my doorstep.

Re: Fish mongers dog food
Had a good look at Fishomonger in P @ H this weekend. Certainly judging by the packaging they intend to give F4D a run for their money (very much the same) and it states high fish content - 60% on one of them. I would have tried this in favour of wafcol but the kibble is really small in the finest range. I will keep buying the fish braids and cubes though as they are good value and Lola loves them.

Re: Fish mongers dog food
In the 10kg bags the kibble is a lot bigger for some reason, I hadn't realised as I only got the large bag on Sunday as I was using the small bag as a tester to make sure they liked it. I haven't seen any of the braids though, I'll have to have a harder look.
