Does your Staffy snort like a pig?

I dont mean like when they are asleep and they snore, Dizzy does it all the time when she's awake, especially if she is p***ed at you for something ie if you tell her off or won't let her on the bed at night. It's like a propper piggy snort, like the kind a kid would do if you asked them what noise a pig makes! Just wondered if it's a staffy thing or just a Dizzy thing?

yep same here every one calls him grunty lol but i have noticed that a bitch staff near me grunts when she's running along lol

Buster only does it when he's found something with a particulary nice (whiffy) smell.

Yep!! Sid makes some right weird noises!! And when he's sniffing around the floor for stuff he sounds like a canal boat chugging along!!

Molly does the lip smacking thing in the morning.... She doesn't really snort though, she's still called "pig" as she looked like a piglet when she was a pup

Charlie makes noises I've never heard before. He does the snorting thing, usually when he's tired or woken up or as Dizzy does, if I've told him off for something. My hubby was complaining only an hour ago that last night Charlie's snoring and my moaning in my sleep kept him awake. Ha ha, revenge is sweet, my hubby has some right weird episodes at night!

Moo got bought back from her first home beacause apparently the guy said she made noises a dog shouldn't! Well it is a staff! They do make some bizare sounds! My gain though!

OMG Bella does it all the time... i remember when i was little i used to get my sisters sausage dog and sneak up behind my sister and get her to lick her face now if i try that with Bella she can hear her a mile away..

Are you all certain this is not a case of reverse sneezing often caused by some obstruction in the nasal passage? This can be a serious problem. A single snort at a specific moment is probably nothing to worry about but if you hear frequent snorts in line with their breathing it is something to have investigated. Our girl had this not long after we had new flooring in the house which left a lot of sawdust in the back garden where the fitter had been working and not long after the snorting began but luckily cleared itself after a couple of days.

Yep... Holly does it to me when she is in trouble... or if i happen to wake her up and put her outside for a wee... if she doesnt want to go she snorts the whole way and i have to carry her lol
poor babies they are having rules!

Both of mine snort, when I tell them not to do something its more of a snorty sigh. And when they are excited its more piggy like, I call them 'pogs' pig-dogs ><

I'm not so sure that by 'snorting' any of us actually mean that 'reverse sneeze' sort of snort. I think really it's more of a continual grunting, almost like a grumbling that staffs seem to do so much of!

Bandit used to make those noises & so does Dempsey, so maybe it's a bull breed thing. Dempsey also occasionally 'snorts' and we know that this is because of a slightly soft palate, which the vet doesn't think needs any treatment, and it doesn't seem to worry him at all.

Lol I thought it was just Ty but am sure now its a staffy thing! Ty snorts when he is excited running around and also when he gets told off he sticks his nose in the air and grunts in your face its so cute lol.

blue snorts, moreso when he`s playing...he tends to whine alot as well.

Holsten does it when he's not happy with something ,more than likely cause hes just been told off for something ,as for the lip smacking that is him telling me he wants something ,whether it be food ,walks etc lol

im going to need to try get a video of shady when he's having a moment , either when im singing or he's locked out a room , he sounds like ...... eh maybe a baby seal in distress , strange dog

Logan is deffo a lil piglet!! I used to call him piglet all the time, but then had to stop in case he thought that was his name!!

im pretty sure shes not reverse sneezing she just does it when shes sniffing about looking for summato to chew lol

It is defo a staffy thing kaiser does it all the time lol thats why we gave him the nickname piggy wiggy lol

Milly does it and when she is in a deep sleep her tonugue hangs out

Haha saff does this when she's either waiting for her dinner, waiting at the back door for a walk and sometimes when she's getting a cuddle! We thought she was just abit weird! Seems to be when she's happy x

Yep my Freddie makes this noise too earning himself the nickname of 'Pig-Dog' with all the staff at work!!
