Snowflake - deaf American bulldog
Snowflake is completely deaf but is learning hand signals. A double thumbs-up tells her she's a good girl.
She is muscular and can be quite strong on the lead but seems to walk just fine on an extender.
Snowflake does sit via hand signals and is very treat and food oriented, so should be quite trainable in the hands of an owner or handler with deaf-dog experience.
She is in the care of www.homes4dogs.co.uk on the Cambs/Leics border.

Re: Snowflake - deaf American bulldog
I have to admit, I don't know much about this breed - haven't seen many before.
I was quite surprised at how high her stamina for walkies was - I was done in after 45 minutes of cross country terrain through the woods near the rescue, but she was skipping along like she'd only just come out.
She sits to the old Barbara Woodhouse command with the hand going up in the air as the elbow bends.

Actually i do want another dog haha!
Yer working dog they do have massive stamina, however they tend to over heat very easily at the same time

Re: Snowflake - deaf American bulldog
I took her for a walk today where she pulled like a steam train for the first half, then plodded like an oldie on the way back.
Some people walking a Jack Russell stopped me and said they had an American bulldog but that Snowflake dwarfs theirs - they were gobsmacked at her lean condition and size.
The photos really don't show her condition - a high degree of muscle separation on show.
Very powerful dog but great fun.

Re: Snowflake - deaf American bulldog
They aren't the brightest breed especially going on chance and others i've met, so they tend to carry on at a million miles an hour even when exhausted and over heated, so it's just something to keep an eye on.

Re: Snowflake - deaf American bulldog
Snowflake was rehomed today to a couple who really connected with her - she seemed like putty in their hands.
Can mods/admin move this to the rehomed section please.
Thanks.

Cheers Kathy - was delighted to see how well this couple could work with her breed and deafness today.

Hi,
Could mods please move Snowflake back to the rehoming section.
She has returned due to no fault of her own.
