Amping up onyx with a flirt pole, I noticed he was vertically jumping higher each time. Finally clearing my head with little effort, I'm 5'9". Onyx will do flips off the fence to catch the ball while we play fetch. Well onyx added something else to his crazy drive, he jumped over our 7ft fence that's on a noticeable incline. I want to say he had to jump around 7.5ft.

I am not too worried about it when I leave him alone outside, he has to be amped up to try to take a * at the fence. Only a ball gets him that excited

Knowing how sneeky Staffys can be at jumping fencing (from what I have heard on here) I wouldn't leave my dog alone outside anyway Laughing

They really are extremely athletic!

I wouldn't bet on him not trying it while you're out!

I'd attach a piece of trellis to the top, and incline it inwards to discourage him. Better safe than sorry!

Dempsey could jump that high, but he really can't be bothered. He doesn't even jump on to the sofa - he climbs, one foot at a time! Laughing

Sounds about right Laughing have had many staffies and pit bulls get out of their 7ft kennels by circling to the top and then pushing off the wall.. had to cover half of the kennels with wire now to stop it!

rolling on the floor rolling on the floor The only place Tilly ever jumps these days is onto my chair, the couch or the bed for a sleep. Tommy on the other hand is like a tigger but nothing like the levels talked about here

It's hard to say if it would ever happen again. I'd have to set up a camera every time I'd take him to the yard. Couldn't predict that sort of event. That's why I am so shocked about it also. I got that fence that tall so it wouldn't be able to be jumped over. He didn't go over like a hurdle if that's what your thinking.

Andy, I have to compliment you on max. Fantastic stafford you have. I can genuinely appreciate how you have been training your lad. Onyx has a very similar apperance. Keep up the great work on him

Funny thing, the day before I posted this thread my friend sent me 3 pics of your max. He knew I would get big eyes and a jaw hitting the floor, and I did. I'm glad to say I've met the person that owns hom

Max sure is a stunner. You should try Onyx with flyball since he is so great at bouncing off the fence to catch the ball.

omg that photo is amazing. i've never seen buster jump anywhere near the heights you guys are talking about. can deffo see how it's possible for staffs though with their athletic abilitys. my mum and dad used to have a collie cross springer that'd jump and then scrabble up fence. they built fence up to 9ft befoere she decided it was to high to go up and over lol!
