Re: Horror and zombie films
I did watch The Ring (not the Japanese version) which was scary - but not revolting.
Carving up people, torturing them - absolutely NOT.

Re: Horror and zombie films
Taking up Hayley's comment, I do believe that seeing stuff like this, especially at an impressionable age, is very damaging.
In my own case it was reading Edgar Allan Poe horror "stories" at about 13 (it was a craze in my school at the time) and I truly wish that my mother had torn the book out of my hands and thrown it on the fire. The pleasure he got (and intended to convey to his readers) in describing the most horrific mutilations affected me even more than the descriptions themselves, which were pornographic (and I don't mean sexually) in the extreme. I can't understand why his books weren't banned.
There, you've wrung it out of me!

But it's very subjective it very much depends on the individualLynda wrote:Taking up Hayley's comment, I do believe that seeing stuff like this, especially at an impressionable age, is very damaging.

I at a mucher younger age have watched the top 10 most controversial and horrific films ever made according to most polls and it never affected me in the slightest, I just enjoyed them.
If you don't like a genre that's fine but there's much more damaging things in this world then a film or book.

Ah don't worry Caroline - you expressed an interest, which others share. I could easily have ignored it altogether and not commented at all, and it was my choice that I did comment, and keep commenting. Please don't stop messaging on the forum - we all love a debate! And also hearing from you on other subjects too!
