Re: puppy help training
mmmmI know a pup like this , wonder where they got it from
1) Maisie is looking great
2) We're getting round this with Tommy now by lots of patience . First sit, then the treat , soon as she moves or jumps take the treat away and try again , I thought we weren't getting anywhere but it is starting to pay off. I try and kill any unwanted excitement (like trying to get leads and harnesses on was a nightmare) by stopping him in his tracks and sitting him down. As soon as he jumps on the bed now its a NO before he even starts and he doesn't come in with the teeth it's the tongue straight away. Tommy will still get excited when we aren't paying 100% attention and go teeth first but a good firm NO normally gets the response we want

Re: puppy help training
Of course! The Tominator's sister!
Well, she's going through the start of her teenage phase! Knows everything, listens to nothing & nobody understands her. Don't worry, it'll only last another 5 years or so. If you're lucky.
Seriously, just go back to basics & be firm, consistent & calm. She'll come through it in a little while!
How much exercise is she getting now?
She's looking beautiful!

Agree with Caryll 100% , though I will say Tommy must have been the youngest and longest living Teenager ever
You might find this useful too for the nipping and stuff

Re: puppy help training
Then you must get her down & put her out of the room for a minute or two. Just keep at it - they mostly all go through a really rebellious stage, and will try the patience of a saint! It's when they come through the other side that you start to see the real good character of them!
What are you feeding her?

Sounds like the teenage phase and testing her boundaries. I think it's time to go back to basics.

Re: puppy help training
Wainwrights is a good food, but can make some dogs hyper. Have you thought to try fish4dogs? I know it's pricey, but it's one of the better foods for not causing allergies/hyperactivity.
I doubt that her season has anything to do with it - they can get a bit moody or miserable (don't we all!) but it doesn't normally lead to hyperactivity. She sounds like she has too much energy, which could well be coming from her food.

Then use a treat or her favourite toy - anything to get her to take notice.
Also, try teaching her to sit & watch you. Then when she gets out of hand you can tell her to "watch" and she'll stop to look at you.

Re: puppy help training
we're just coming off the wainwrights puppy Ian , can't remember which flavour but think it's all the same make up and putting Tommy on to Fish4dogs adult, he seems to love it . Got me wondering now whether his "slight" improvements in behaviour are linked to the food rather than our good efforts
Anyway if you want to give it a go with the right deal it's not so different in price to the Wainwrights , we last paid 36.99 for 15kg at PAH and on the Fish4dogs website the Fish4dogs finest was just over £32 inc delivery for 12kg but you feed a bit less of it anyway you need to use offer code DAILYMIRROR20 at the box on checkout.
Sure Tracey @ Tiezelstaffs (Andy and Linzi's mates) use Fish4puppies for the litters and the pups looked fantastic on it

Re: puppy help training
Hi Ian,
don't know if it applies to dogs, but we got small trial size Fish4cats.
We are feeding Bacchus Orijen Puppy but too soon to tell effects hyperactivity wise.
Anyone got any feedback on Orijen?
She's a very pretty girl by the way.

Been married 46 years, raised 2 girls, still can't fathom women out. I mean what do you do, I booked a table for 2 for our anniversary and she went into a huff. How was I to know she doesn't like snooker.

Re: puppy help training
I brought a 1.5kg bag for Marley (didnt want to go big and him not like it!) we also joined the club on there site for just £1 and get discounts of foods. Marley loves his f4d puppy food and im pleased to say he now weighs a mighty fine 2.4kg compared to the 1.8 he weighed a week ago his coat has gone uber lush and apart from the usual puppy play he has calmed right down i would recommend it we also use the salmon oil in his food and he looks amazing!! x
