Grass midges?
Just taken my foster out for a walk, got halfway across a field, and realised my legs were on fire.
Doggy is completely unaffected.
Back home, my ankles and calves look like they've been inflicted with the plague of 1000 mosquitoes.
Have thrown my trousers outside the back door and am sitting with feet in a bucket of water while foster snoozes on his bed.

Re: Grass midges?
These feel like burns - really painful - the itchy ones.
Not impressed that clever clogs hasn't got any at all.

Re: Grass midges?
Ouch, sounds painful! Look on the bright side, at least the dog is unaffected so you can heal without having to cater to an in-pain dog too
Great picture by the way, beautiful dog

Re: Grass midges?
Just reading up on them - eating a bit of garlic is supposed to keep them off.
I'm scratching them now and they're bleeding.
Lol.

Horrible things. The only think I've found that works after the bite is germolene with local anaesthetic!

Do you have any antihistamine tablets ?, they always work for me when I get bitten by the dreaded mozzies.

Have dabbed them all with Dettol.
Off out again soon. Have eaten three raw bits of garlic so hope no one wants to talk to me.

Re: Grass midges?
He's a really nice dog, Dave and into licking hands every time you pass him.
The local hoodlums didn't have anything to say today either when we sauntered through the druggie underpass. Strange that.

I think he was simply handed in as an unwanted pet, Kathy.
Details say he's around six years of age.
He does sit, stay, paw, lie down, into bed and out.
Loves to lick your hand and simply melts when he receives a fuss.
Loves chicken, loves gravy, hates chips and potatoes.
Floppy left ear, clean breath, not bad teeth (but do need a clean).
Good when traveling, clean overnight, silent sleeper, doesn't react to vocal dogs, etc, etc....
Has been with the rescue since the beginning of August.
Answers to the name Clyde.
He's the same height as my dining table but won't steal or beg anything.
A mystery as to how he got handed in, to be honest.

Re: Grass midges?
I feel ur pain !
We live half a mile from marshland, the gnats and midges here are huge !
We have nets on open doors and the uv zapper lights.
My youngest daughte suffers from Mastocytocis where she produces too much histamine if she's bitten, it's a nightmare and resulted in many days off school and visits to great ormond St hospital.
My 2 staffys have been bitten on occasion. Piriton is our saviour !

Looks like he has visitors coming in the next day or two to see about offering him a loving home.
I'm like a proud dad on the sideline of the pitch - go on my son.

My maisy had 3 big bites on her back a few week ago, I gave her piriton, after they went down, her hair fell out so she had 3 bald patches, its just starting to grow back nearly 3 week later!
