Just looking at Woodgreen Animal Charity website and came across this advice for all dog walkers in the Cambridgeshire area, just as relevent to other regions too though:

Such a shame that we have to think like that , the girls are going to have to carry some weapons with them me thinks (hairspray , rape alarm etc)

It's the same everywhere I think. I don't walk Charlie in certain areas when it gets dark and that's as much for my personal safety as the fear of him being stolen. It's a sorry state of affairs for sure Sad

terrible that we need to think like that in this day and age. think we're quite lucky that we live in a small town but we still here of these things happening

It's shocking, there have been some incidents in and around the Peterborough area where dogs have been snatched from walkers. It's very unnerving if you do have to walk alone, thankfully I dont have to very often.
