Vegeterian diet for dogs

I can understand the last comment where the dog was allergic to meat (but i bet they only tried dry foods and not raw) but what kind of person would CHOOSE to have their dog be a veggie for their own beliefs? Mental! I'm a vegetarian and that is my choice, but i won't force my dog who is a carnivore to eat no meat! If i felt that strongly about animal slaughter i would need to be vegan and vegans don't keep animals, so what's the point of this?

No idea I think it's wrong to feed a dog a vegetarian diet because of personal beliefs.
If someone wants a vegetarian pet then they should get something like a rabbit IMO!

Re: Vegeterian diet for dogs
We had this discussion a while back with MissRogue - she said that a dog could live well on a vege diet (not a commercial dry food), but I said what's the point as you'd have to give supplements & feed a lot more!
The argument went round & round in circles for ages!
I wouldn't enforce my vegetarian views on a dog - they generally do much, much better on a meat diet.

Course they do, they're meat eaters! They can survive on a veggie diet, but won't thrive in my opinion

Can't see a dog in the wild merrily picking blackberries from bushes and digging up carrots somehow.
