More dogs into Shelters :(
Just seen the back end of a Central News report from Birmingham dogs home reporting a large increase in dogs into the home staffs and staff x , they believe it is due to the recent changes in the dangerous dog laws so people panicking and not wanting to take chances

Poor things. It has got to be such a problem. They really need to rethink these stupid laws and work more on educating people and policing breeding. I'm sure that if they didn't have all the dogs in the pounds the money saved would go to help dogs in real danger from abuse etc and not just unwanted. I hate humans.

Oh Hayley, if I had a pound for every time I have said "I hate people sometimes - I only really love you" to Lola I could open a staff home somewhere peaceful run by staff lovers! Can't remember who posted on a forum that if they won the lottery that's what they would do (more than one person I suspect) but if I win it first I'll be recruiting via this site!

I'm sure if any one of us won mega bucks on the lottery we would make a sizeable donation to a Staffy/dog charity of some kind. I know I would.

Always happens when the media spin "scary devil dog" stories unfortunately. In the block of 20 dogs that I train 18 of them are staffies, we've got over 70 now altogether and there's always an influx when attacks happen
I don't like to pressure people to rescue rather than buy at all as it's personal preference really, but it really can make such a massive difference! I've got a 10 week old pup with me at the moment, contacted the owners who's reply was "oh well, we'll just buy a cat instead!" Makes me sick

Re: More dogs into Shelters :(
This is what's happening here in Maryland in the US. A recent court ruling said that both landlords and dog owners could be sued after a dog bite, IF it was from a "pit bull type," including Staffies, since those dogs are "inherently vicious."
This after a child mistakenly went into a yard with chained pit bulls and was seriously injured (survived, thankfully, and is OK). I believe the dog owner didn't have much for the family to sue for medical expenses, so the courts said the landlord was also liable...and now apartments all over Baltimore, afraid of lawsuits, are telling bully owners to get their dogs out.
The only good thing is that the reaction from the public has been striking...I think there will be something against BSL when the legislature meets but that's not till January.
And the only other good thing for you guys in the UK is that it isn't affecting a lot of Staffies, there aren't that many here...but it's sad for the pits and AmStaffs.

This is so sad. What horrible ex-owners. I'm shocked at how cold some people can be towards their pets.
