Injured A NEW rescue staff in local park

Post by Floyd1138 Mon Aug 20 2012, 23:01

I met a new staff in the park today, gorgeous little pied female with bullseye markings, its same age as floyd, 10 months old, the lad says previous owner moved into council flats and couldnt take her, AND she had another previous owner! poor wee girl hasnt had the best start.

Owner had her on a cheapo retractable lead (i was quick to advise against) After their first initial meeting and sniffing it was obvious she was friendly and wanting to play, he said he has had her just one month and hasnt let her off lead yet, floyd was eager to play aswell and was playbowing, circling her etc, she was pulling like a maniac, tying us all up in extended lead, she was been jerked as she ran, his arm was being pulled blah blah, We were in a safe place with no distractions, i suggested he should let her off. He did and her and floyd ran rings around each other, had a good 30 mins chasing each other and got on amazingly! We were later joined by a EBT and a barky barky collie,.... the new staff stood still as the other dogs ran over, allowed them to sniff, then had a sniff, then the playing began, she got on soooooooo well with the group of dogs.

The young lad and his wee staff joined us tonight for evening walk, totally different group of dogs, she was simply brilliant again with all the dogs, totally merged right in and was accepted with no problems.

Now that wee dog has had 3 owners, (new owner said she was sometimes head shy, which could mean mistreatment or punishment by hitting) and been moved about and not had the chance to settle anywhere BUT WOW! what a well socialised, obedient, playful, happy well mannered dog!

It just shows you, had he been the type of person, too scared and worried about his staff being let off or being near other dogs, then that wee pup would not have been allowed to reach her full potential.
I was so impressed by her, especially considering shes only 10 months and has is already on her 3rd owner. She was and acted like a perfect wee dog.
Her name was........... 'Lady' and that she was!

Sounds like she got on great with her new playmates. Is the owner a member of our forum ? Maybe you could drop a few hints their way to join up. thumbs up
