We all have one if not more of those stories in which those anti staffy people avoid us or pick up their dogs etc... The picking up of a pup happened a few weeks ago, i didnt bother posting about it, but tonight something happened with same dog i thought id share.... one with a happy ending.

Weeks ago while me and dog approached a man, woman and pup, he seen us coming and turned to wife, next thing she is picking the pup up....... fair enough!! its a pup (3 months old maybe) as we passed i stopped to chat to the wife holding the dog, grumpy old man walked on 10 feet stood and watched us crossed armed. Floyd being excited theres a pup, puts his paws on womans legs to get higher to sniff, i immediatley told him down, few mins later he done it again, and again i apologised and told him down. she was fine with it, in her wellies and fleece and even remarking 'its all part of dog walking' we shared a laugh about it, 3rd time he puts paws up, the man comes over grabs floyd and says get him down he is getting her (the wife) dirty and on put that dog on a lead, he is out of control! I said, he is not out of control, he is well socialised, dog friendly, and infact he is a pup aswell and just a few months older than yours, and only wants to sniff,..... 'Yeah right he says' all the while his wife is saying its fine jim , leave it, its fine!! anyways i ended up telling him he didnt have a clue......................

Well tonight.. wife and pup at top of hill, us at bottom and about 50 metres behind them. The pup is off lead and runs down the right to the edge of river ( which isnt deep or fast) Her recalls wont work and its in full on puppy explore mode, floyd of course sees pup run down so runs over, i see the woman see him run towards her dog and her pace quickens and shouts get louder. The pup is oblivious to her recalls or floyd charging towards it, 10 feet away floyd starts play hopping towards it and then barks!, the wee thing turns round comes back up from edge of river, floyd play bows and instead of sniffing he runs straight up the hill, past me up to the woman and sits !!!!!!! and of course the pup has followed him and wifey got pup on leash, there was a 10 second sniff / run about in circles and my 3rd recall shout got him back down the hill sitting at my feet !!!!!!! His recall is always pretty good but the fact he ran back up hill, leading pup, did he? am i reading too much into things? did i see it correctly, did he lead pup away from river to mum? lol probably not, but im very proud of my dog tonight Big Grin

Oh and i just hope wifey tells hubby when she got home!

WOW! I'd be thinking the same - what a little hero applause Let us know about the hubby's behaviour next time you encounter him - he should be ashamed and apologising for his ignorance but by the sounds of him hell may freeze over first. Great staffy story! Love Struck
