So do all Staffies run sideways?

Saw this in the what do you love about your Staffies thread...do they all trot with their bodies at a little angle like that? I thought Callie was just strange Anybody know why?

There is a typicle Staffie trot...little like a grab and a little circular wiggle

Cairo looks like shes going sideways slightly when she runs.I call it her crab run lol

I think they're just too bulky to run properly!

Mine only appear to go straight when they are really running fast. Just a jog and it is a bit of a crab jog. lol

will have to look more clearly as never noticed this with memphis

Caryll you are right, my old EBT ran like this. I would say trotted more than ran as I also think when they are running full throttle they seem to run straight!!

Not all staffs trot like this, Tali does though and always has! I used to worry and think she had a deformity, but vet reassured me its just how shes put together

Crab jog works for me...we are from Maryland ( Land of steamed blue crabs and beer)

Aaaww, Loki doesn't run like this, no fair that said, only the past couple of weeks he's started sitting weirdly, which is apparently a Staff/Terrier thing, so maybe he'll learn it when he grows up

Pixee does that too, and have you noticed this, sometimes its like their back legs are doing the crawl when they come to brake

romeo crab runs, its like his butt is trying to over take his head

My Tara does the crab run lol, but Franks run is complete different .. he kinda runs like a whippet ... his legs go out AROUND his body then in way in front of his front legs ... i wasnt sure if there was something wrong with his back bones ... vet said its fine thoug .... he might grow out of it, he might not.

Tommy crab runs , Tilly does a bit of that and sort of dances a little whilst she's trotting

Max does if just trotting .. but is straight as a die if he's bolting

Mia also suffers from the sideways jog, like max tho she will run straight if she's bolting for something!!

Yup, when she's trotting she does the crab walk too...especially if she's see's a squirrel! She does a little sideways dance

Marley does it to, Like some of you i was worried when I first saw it but its perfectly normal. One source I read that kinda makes sence says they have a dominant side, bit like left or right handed and the dominant (stronger) sided leg will move into center alignment between the front legs as it moves off harder at a trott. when walking or full out running the dynamics of the movements make it hardley noticable. Also Marley nearly always cocks his right leg for a pee and his trott is about 15 degrees to the left so Im guessing he is right pawed lol

I call Lola Paddle Paws when she's walking fast- looks like she's practicing for a canoe race!
