Before anyone starts to have a go at me.Jett isn't neutered YET but I WILL be getting him neutered in September. The only reason being I wanted to get him neutered this month but didn't think it would be fair with the "recovery" as I have to go away to london at the end of the month.

I just wanted to ask that after him being neutered, will he be less aggressive around other dogs with his toys/footballs/sticks?
The last incident we had was with a stick and another un neutered male dog (jett was on the lead and the other dog was off the lead) and they nearly ripped each others heads off for it.

I thought it was only male dogs he was a bit funny with but we were in the park and a female boxer came over while he had his football and he nearly ripped it's head off.

I've been asked to start walking again with two women that went to the same puppy class as us.I don't want any fights to break out so what would be the best thing to do?
Not go at all.
Go but keep him on the lead
Go and have him wear a muzzle

rant over Smile

Go and see how it goes.

Neutering can make a difference but by all accounts training is the main thing.

Moo can be hostile when onlead, off lead she is a different dog. I suppose you have to find out what works for you.

I agree with Janey. I would go along and just keep him on lead to see how he gets on with them Smile

I'm sorry but i don't agree neutering will have little to no affect on toy possession.

I'll say now Harvey isn't neutered and WON'T be neutered so no one will moan at you, but I can't see neutering helping no.

I agree, go on the walks but keep him on the lead to see how it goes, just take it steady to begin with.

Keep an eye on eye contact with the dogs as this can be seen as a challenge and boil over to the start of aggresive behaviour. Cover the eyes if necessary or break the line of sight.

I say go and see how he is, but take your muzzle just incase. Castration will calm him a little but only really around bitches in heat, i don't think it will have much effect on his training so to speak.

Castration won't make any difference at all to possession aggression, only training will do that (or keeping his possessions away from other dogs! Big Grin ).

Like Ella, I don't neuter, but if that's the route you want to take, that's your decision - just don't be under the impression that it's a cure all. Sad It may calm his drive down a little, but he'll still want his toys etc to himself. Big Grin

Definately go on the walks. I wouldn't use a muzzle but you could start the walk off with dogs off on opposite sides and slowly bring them together.

I agree with everyone above.
I would just add that you should spend some time on training. It is not the dog's toys, it is yours and you only allow the dog to play with them. That is also how you should approach the training.

This is very true. I would also not take his toys on a walk. If there is nothing to be possessive over there is less likelyhood of tension.

Yes, I agree - leave the toys at home until you're absolutely certain that it won't cause an issue.

Thanks for your input guys.I'm not too fussed about getting him neutered,it's my aunt/mum and dad that have stuck their noses in and say I should get him neutered.

Like Hayley said he's your dog if you don't want to neuter then don't.
