Changing amount of meals
Zeus turned 6 months and 1 week today.. is it the right time for him to go on 2 meals a day instead of 3 now?
I noticed that hes gained a bit of weight recently, maybe due to too many meals in a day?

Re: Changing amount of meals
If he is gaining weight then yes i would cut out the middle meal. If you worry he is hungry in between maybe add 1/4 of what would have been in the middle meal to the morning / evening feeds?

Now is a perfect time to switch him over to two meals. He shouldn't be gaining weight if you feed the daily amount for his weight in three portions, as the amount of meals still adds up to his portion per day. Maybe he's just having a bit of a growth spurt

Re: Changing amount of meals
They al do have growth spurts and he still has 2 1/2 years of growing to do so I wouldn;t worry too much about weight.

Yes, switch him over now. The weight gain may be because he needs a little more exercise now?

I am worried about him getting hungry in the day, so I was thinking maybe giving him a dentastik when he normally has his mid-day meal?

I thought so too, we've upped his walks to two 30 minute walks a day, and sometimes I go on a run with him, along with that I play with him quite alot in the evening, so would have thought that'd be enough exercise for him?

Re: Changing amount of meals
I'd avoid the dentastik - they're supposed to keep a dog's teeth clean, but I've never seen any evidence of that!

P.S. you could try just reducing his midday meal over a week or so, then he won't really miss it.

Yes, do it gradually! I don't give any dentasticks or the like. Instead of the meal in the middle of the day how abut try a trainign session using a 1/4 of the kibble you would have been giving and that way he gets a bit of something and also works hi brain

Great idea, I'll gradually do that. Thanks!
