Re: Starts at 3am
He's still a baby, still learning.
I had the same with my pup, he would sleep from 10pm to around 4am then bark n cry in his crate. I'd get up, put him out for a wee then bk in his crate, most of the time he would settle. Only now that he's 4 mths old have things settled down as he like our other staffy sleep on our bed.
If u have ur pup in a crate at night, when he crys, let him out for a wee. Then bk to crate, cover with a blanket and maby even leave a radio on for him.
The early weeks are always tough. My male is so different to my female.
It is ok to leave him to cry at night. Staffys by nature crave human contact so u could try moving his crate to ur bedroom, if he can see/hear u he may settle better.

Re: Starts at 3am
I used to get up at around 4am to let Dempsey into the garden for a pee. He'd then happily go back to his crate & go to sleep till around 7am.
I know it's a pain, but a pup doesn't have much control over its bladder & it may be a bit uncomfortable.

We did exactly the same as Caryll.
I know some people chose to leave them in the crate and leave a bit of paper for them to pee on, but for me that's just saying 'hey, it's ok to pee in your crate, and while you're at it, pee anywhere you like!'.
Ralph was totally clean at about 14 weeks, and now goes from 10.00 until 7.00 ish before he starts howling for a wee wee's!

Putting the crate in your room will work if he's crying because he wants to be with you. That's what I did and bizarrely, messing in the crate stopped too when it was moved into my room. Good luck
