How strange! I can understand chewing but never heard of sucking! If your finding it a problem then maybe another bed!?

did u wash the bed first? Maybe it has something to do with the smell of it or the female dog.

Re: my staffy keeps sucking his bed :s
I have a three year old bitch who is a rescue dog and she also has a tendency to suck her bed cover. We adopted her one year ago today and brought back a bed with a separate blanket from the RSPCA at the same time.
Bailey is a total sweetheart and doesn't have any fixations with furniture in general, however, I will occasionally look down from the computer and see her lying with a piece of that blanket bunched up between her paws as she gently sucks it, eventually leading to a small hole. She doesn't do this constantly and I can always drag her away but I am sure it happens at some point every day and she always looks quite sheepish when this is happening.
A quick Google search I did suggests this practice is common with dogs that were removed from their mother too early. I wonder if the experience with the female has triggered some kind of psychological reaction in your dog that could be traced back to early experiences. I am not trying to be Freud here but it sounds more like a mental rather than physical problem. I wouldn't know how you can fix this but a dog behaviourist might know and perhaps you could ask the rescue home where you adopted him.
