i hate it when people don't tell me what going off, i had to find this out myself it was the same with Halifax
Re: bloody stupid banks
I'm with the Co Op as well. Never had a problem with them.
Couldn't tell you what their savings rates are, though...I don't have enough to worry about it!

I've had the same bank for about 12 years but haven't been there in person for about 10 years or so. I do everything online.

Re: bloody stupid banks
if you save £6 that = £312 a year x by 4 years that in the in the 5 years you get around £50
you keep adding to that you got nice bit of saving you may need in the future
you could also do a 5 year fix term where you can get 4.7% / 5% interest which i been thinking about

Re: bloody stupid banks
Speaking as one who has worked for and know folks who work in the Co-op I wouldn't trust my money with them! But then again I'm with Barclays so that doesn't say much about my money sense does it!
Might just dig a hole in the woods and bury my money because let's face it, it would be safer!

Re: bloody stupid banks
I told Barclays to get stuffed about two years ago. I now do all my banking with Nationwide Building Society, no fat cat shareholders so any interest goes straight back to account holders. Simples.

I'd say the same about NatWest because I worked for them - but as long as they handle my money well & none of it goes astray I don't care. They're all the same, they all employ human beings who all do silly things & make mistakes!

I ditched Barclays 23 years ago as I was a student and they deceived me over an overdraft retraction when I took a loan out, when I complained they offered me it back there and then and retract charges I had incurred, me being me declined their offer and then went back 2 months later as I realised I needed it. Instead of giving it to me over the phone like before they demanded I came down for an interview with my wife, sat us across a big table, sweated us for 2 days and then declined us. Boy was I angry.
When I got back to work (I was sponsored) I got made redundant walked in with a check for 6,500 pounds and asked to see the manager (the guy that interviewed me) . I explained I was putting the money in the account to close within 4 days (along with the reason why) of course he was a different story then and apologetic, ( I also had another job to walk into paying 50% more money than my old job so not a financial risk to them) and walked across to TSB as it was and never looked back since
