Lumps after 1st shots
Izzy had her 1st shots on friday and today we've noticed lumps on her back.
She still seems her happy self, eating, drinking and everything else, i was hoping someone here would be able to advise as to what it ould be until we can get her to the vets

Re: Lumps after 1st shots
This is an allergic reaction. If she hasn't been bitten by horseflys or stung by anything then it is from the shots. You need to inform your vet asap as she may not be able to have vaccinations in the future, but it could also effect other medications if ever needed.

I thought it might be shes scratching a bit more than normal. Is there anything we can do to soothe it until the morning when vets reopens?

Re: Lumps after 1st shots
Half a piriton will normally calm down alergies. But I'm no vet and can't recommend you give them to your dog.
Is it getting any worse? Or is it staying the same or going down?

Not really no, i would be careful about putting anything on the fur until you see the extent of the allergies, vaccinations are usually okay for all dogs its the very few who react with several lumps which is why i wonder if the dog got stung by anything. A cool bath might help ease the itch for a while though.

Only time shes been out was when she went vets, and we keep an eye out for biting insects as we have a 2 year old child too, we've honestly seen none

Re: Lumps after 1st shots
It should be OK to give a piriton tablet if you have any, Tesco do there own brand if you can get there before they close, this is what to look for:

Re: Lumps after 1st shots
Update on Izzy.
Vets said its a reaction to the vaccine, most probs not the main bit but the stuff they put with it. Hes gonna contact the manufacturer and tell them and hes given Izzy a steroid shot to calm it down ( free of charge ). She goes back in 2 days for a check up on it
