Drinking water Empty Drinking water

OH has been complaing this week that Buster will not drink any water while he is at work with him. Normally this isnt a problem as it is wet and there are normally puddles and things about that he will drink from, but with the nice weather recently the puddles have all gone and Buster will not touch water in his bowl. OH says he has tried everything - even hand feeding it to him but he wont touch it. If I pop in though (I had to on Weds because OH forgot his phone) Buster will drink if I put water down for him.

Is it something to do with him being away from me? As soon as he sees me his little face lights up and he is really well behaved as he can play OH up. I know in theory he should drink if he is thirsty but he isnt drinking a drop from 7 30 when he goes untill 5 30 when he gets home and it cant be good for him Sad

You could try freezing some ice cubes made from a weak squash? Is there a fridge with a small freezer compartment where they could be kept?

It could be because he thinks he wont have the chance to go for a P so wont drink then have to hold onto it. Does your OH take him for a walk while at work with him, if only around the block or whatever ?

I had thought about ice cubes, but their freezer compartment on the fridge doesn't work Sad

OH works in a big yard. Buster is allowed out every break time (and they have more breaks than they do work!) and also if they are working outside as long as they are not using the forklift or trucks

Would he drink from a cup? Maybe if it was offered in a cup he might think it's something special?

I hadnt thought about putting it in a cup. It could work, but Im not sure if that is a habit I want to teach him.

He washes the bowl and puts fresh water down a few times a day but Buster wont go near it.

He has tried turning the hosepipe on to see if he will drink from that but he just runs off.

He must be getting water from somewhere because when he gets home he doesn't go straight to the water bowl or anything. He is kept in the canteen area if he has to stay shut in, and it is nice and cool in there. It just worries me that they dont see him have a drop and his bowl is still full at the end of every day. When I went down he drank most of it almost straight off so he mustve been thirsty then

No, I don't know what to sugest either. If he isn't in distress & he isn't dehydrating, then there isn't much you can do.

I have told OH the symptoms of heat stroke and dehydration - which I think has worried him a bit and started him worrying about how much Buster drinks (especially after I went mad the other day when he phoned me to tell me I needed to get there ASAP because he had lost Buster!! Surprised angry ) - and what to do if he starts to show any of them. Buster always seems ok, and hopefully he'll start drinking on his own soon

The cup thing sounds a good idea tbh, but only for your OH to do it, not you.

Find a cup from home OH can try at home and take the same one to work....so he will associate the cup, with ur OH and drinking from it when offered every break ?
