How much to feed my Ralphie??
Hello,
Sorry new to this so i hope i have posted this in the right place.
This christmas i rescued my Staffordshire bull terrier Ralphie fromthe Blue cross in Northiam, when i go him he had very bad stomach problems...as in Diarhoear!! He was put on Hills ID persciption food to help with this and when i got him i did some research on this, to find its no good, its a science diet full of rubbish, the people at the shelter said to me that i had to keep him on this and he could never eat anthing else!!! Im currently weaning him off this diet as A its no good for hIm B its full of wheat, grain, dried egg etc whIch is making him itch like mad, i think he'S allergic to it and C It's giving him no good nutrition what so ever! hes making very good progress since weaning him off this science diet.
Ive done my research and ive discoverd that NATURE DIET is very good as a wet food and James well beloved is a good dried food as its gentle on digestion and has no beef, pork, dairy, wheat and his suitable for dogst that can be allergic to ceratin foods that cause itchy skin etc.
I give Ralphie 200g of dried food a day with half a packet of his Nature Diet
Morning - 60g JWL dry
40g Hills dry
Quarter of wet Nature diet.
Eveningv- 60g JWL dry
40g Hills dry
Quarter of wet nature diet.
This is what he gets fed daily, is this enough for him or do dyou think i should give him more? Please note hes only on two different dry foods at teh moment as im weaning him off the Hills Perscription diet, as he had such a sensitive stomach i am doing this very slowly over a course of 8 weeks,
any hints or tips and some advice ob how much i should be feeding would be great. hes Three and a half and not massive, a medium size staff i would say, although since i have rehomed hima nd hes happier he is looking bigger.
Thanks Dee

Re: How much to feed my Ralphie??
When I first rescued Moo she had the same diarhea problems. I would be waking at 4am to find piles of it all over the floor. It was horriable and I was at my wits end! I had her tested for everything but to know avail. I ended changing her diet as you are and changing her feeding times too. Which helped to a vast extent, but it does still happen occasionally (more than it should I mean).
Sorry not much help to your question, not sure where I was going there!!
I think you cant really judge an amount, its personal to the dog, ie weight/exersise etc. As long as Ralphie is happy healthy has a good coat then keep going the way you are
