Food Issues
Hi,
First off - this forum is amazing! So much info on here its a really great read.
Second - if I am repeating old posts, sorry!!
We have had Marlon for about 4 months and in the last month been trying to wean him over to dry food. Our old GSD had dry and I presume its far healthier than tinned stuff??
Anyway, we are trying him on Pets @ Homes Wainwright branded food which seems to get some favourable reviews, but he isn't mad keen on. he eats most of it, but not all of it, and sometimes he leaves around half. I was thinking of trying some gravy or something to help make it a bit more interesting. Any thoughts?
I also noticed Wainwrights do trays of food (look a bit like Microwave meals!) and wondered if anyone had tried those or were they very similar to tinned?
I am sure the little man will eat when he is hungry but just wanted to make sure I was doing what I could for him.
Any and all thoughts appreciated!
Glenn

Re: Food Issues
If he's used to wet (tinned) food, then by all means mix some of the Wainwrights tray food into the dry if it'll tempt him to eat it.
Otherwise, just be hard - put the food down & whatever isn't eaten in 15 minutes take up & give nothing else till next feed. A healthy dog won't starve itself!

Re: Food Issues
Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
I have copied a list of recommended foods below, although the Wainwrights is a good food. He will not let himself starve. i have not Rocky with Wainwrights so cannot comment on it. I feed Rocky on Barking Heads which is also a dry kibble.
