Boston Terrier and Staffy
My wife and I would like to get a stuffy pup. We own a male Boston Terrier(neutered, 35lbs) and are a bit concerned about dog aggression between dogs. We are form the U.S. where American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffies are more common than Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Many people confuse the breeds and it is difficult to understand the nature and temperament of a typical Staffy.
Will a female puppy raised with our Boston most likely get along with him? If they fight once will we need to crate and rotate?- this is what is usually recommended with Pit bull Terriers. Are Staffies less dog aggressive than APBT's and Amstaffs? Any information or advice from those with multi-staffy homes would be appreciated.

Hey Wannastaff, welcome to the site from Jack, Juno & I
I have 2 staffies, one is a year and 2 months old and the other is 7 months old.
How old is your Boston Terrier? Usually with Staffies if there is a year or 2 age difference there will be more of a chance of them getting along, the closer in age they are there is more of a possibility that they will fight for the position of top dog, or pack leader. Usually the first dog you have will remain top dog, usually but not always females are less fiesty, but again sometimes it has nothing to do with their sex but more about their temperament. I'm not really familiar with this breed, but it is my belief that Staffies are less dog aggressive than Pit Bulls and American Staffs, they are also smaller so less powerful. I think if you look around and get one from a reputable breeder where you can meet the parents and see what their temperaments are like, this would be a massive help, as the pups will usually turn out like their parents personally wise.
Ok so I have been rambling a lot, does any of this help?

Re: Boston Terrier and Staffy
Hi & welcome.
A pup will normally get along well with any dog it's introduced to properly. When I've had two dogs together in the past (regardless of breed) I've always seperated them when they've been left alone to avoid little arguments that could get out of hand.
As long as you socialise the pup well from the start she should be friendly enough! Bear in mind, though, that like the APBT some staffords still have the fighting instinct. A dog with that instinct will be fine with any dog it's brought up with, but may not like strange dogs. Having said that, many are totally dog friendly, albeit a bit boisterous!
How old is your Boston? Is he dog friendly?
