Bringing Home
I will be picking Buddy up on the 30th of July, My question is what will be the best time to bring him home? early morning so he's got the day to settle into his new home or last thing at night so he doesn't really get chance to miss his mum n siblings n gets a good first night's sleep?

Re: Bringing Home
I've always gotten mine as early as possible. Gives you time to bond with them and let them explore.

Re: Bringing Home
We got Zeus at night, we spent an hour or so with him then he was put into his crate for the night. If I could change that, I would have got him in the morning so that he can get used to us and his surroundings as he was really restless the night we got him.

Re: Bringing Home
I remember we picked up Rocky in the morning that gave us chance to have some good walks and get him fed and watered and toileted before bedtime.

Re: Bringing Home
I don't think it matters much. At the end of the day they will always miss mum and be stressed, but will get over it.

Re: Bringing Home
I've been told today by the owners they're thinking of letting the pups go at 6 weeks of age because they're that impressed how well they're doing and are not taking anything off mum anymore, I've read on here that it's a bit early for them what's ya thoughts?

Re: Bringing Home
Too early full stop.
Why do breeders do this ? So many want to get shot of pups too early.
7-8weeks is the preferred age. Up until thus point they gain social interaction skills from mum and siblings, it's a very important time.
I would call the breeder and say u will wait until the agreed date. If the breeder is reputable then it shouldn't be a prob.
Out of interest is pup kc reg? And how much did u pay ? (interested as I own 2 blues)

Not good. Basically, the pups are weaned so the breeder doesn't want to be bothered with the feeding etc! Of course they're not taking anything off the dam - have you seen those sharp teeth? - but they learn so much from their siblings on how to be a dog & how to behave. Unless you have no choice I'd leave it till he's 8 weeks old.
I'd pick up early morning. If you leave it till last thing at night yes, he'll be tired, but he'll also be very stressed & scared in a new environment. Don't expect him to sleep much without wailing either way, but at least he'll have the benefit of a few hours to get used to you and your home before he has to sleep alone for the first time.

Re: Bringing Home
Think a couple of the other buyers have been over eager to get their pups, I will tell them I want mine on the 30th (7 week) as planned,

Re: Bringing Home
If they're offering you the pup at 6 weeks then I'd look elsewhere TBH. Not the sign of a good breeder IMO.
