Nipping!

Hi everyone, anyone got any suggestions about stopping nipping?
My little Louie is 9 weeks old and is a very persistant !
We are making aloud ouch nosie and turning are backs to him and ignoring him and when he gets really crazy we put him in time out. But sometimes he just won't stop nipping our feet and it really hurts! Help!

Keep doing what your doing, be firm, consistant and patient, he will grow out of it but it takes time.

Keep ignoring him if you can, turn your back until he sits then give praise, he will soon get the message that the bad behaviour dosn't get rewards but the good does.

You're doing all the right things, but remember that 9 weeks old is still such a baby! Pups are ruled by their instincts & really don't have a lot of self control!

She'll get there, but it might take another couple of weeks or so.

You should start to see an improvement over the next few days as long as you're consistent.

Just trying to be positive!

Just continue as you are each and every time and you will get there. Also have him sit and wait before play and feeding to help with patience.

just a note, as the above advice is very helpful - my Jellybean thinks the loud "OUCH" sound like a puppy makes, which is what I do sometimes, is initiating a game. it just gets her even more interested in jumping and nipping. so i give her a really stern, loud and deep NO! and turn my back until she sits and calms down, then i praise and praise. she is getting it - with me. everyone around her has to do the same as well or it will take even longer than months! Jellybean is 5.5 months old and nearly there but will likely nip for a little while longer.

Glad I read this. Was starting to worry a bit about Ralph, who at four and a half months is still nipping.

We are doing all the usual, and have noticed a slight improvement but it's still going on!

We allow Ralph on the sofa, and interestingly, most of his bad behaviour is on the sofa. We immediately tell him to get down which he does, but then he gets right back up. Any ideas about this?

We are going through the same! Though do have to say the 'play biting' has declined a great deal since we got her. Now we tend to get just excited nips.

What really has helped us is teaching her the 'leave' command. It works the majority of the time but not all the time. But 8/10 times isn't bad IMO!!
