all i can say is 17kg for a female staff is over weight(according to the kc) but if she's wormed and seems fine then i shouldn't see anything to worry about

Re: weight for staffy
Even KC dogs are being breed above standard. Mines a rescue and was about 21kg when last weighed, she has no fat at all and very lean, I like it! But she is a little tall lol.

Re: weight for staffy
give her time to settle, her appetite should pick up, she also has a bit more growing to do. most staffs are fully mature at around 3 years old

Re: weight for staffy
It's hard to tell from the first few pictures but the last few, I'd want a bit of weight off the blue dog personally. Is it the blue dog you're worried is too thin? If so then don't worry, like I said, if anything, going from those pictures, I'd want a bit of weight off her.
They should have a visible waist and a nice tuck up. Weight isn't much to go on as dogs vary so much, it's more about how they look and feel although for a 14" - 16" Staffy, a rough guide of a balanced weight would be between 11kg and 17kg.
Genes play a big part, some dogs are just naturally more lean and vice versa.

Re: weight for staffy
I think your girl looks lovely. Just right!
Sorry to highjack...Galadriel that pic's helpful! I see my mother in law's staff is number 9! So in human terms - obese! I will be showing her that. So thanks

No problem
As about half of the UK's dogs are overweight (one third being obese!) it's easy to forget what a dog of the right weight should look/feel like!
I quite often get told to feed my Lab more (was even asked if he was half greyhound once ) apart from the odd knowledgable person who compliments me on his fantastic shape (vet included) but he is the only Lab round here that is an ideal weight, ALL the others are overweight or obese
People don't realise they're being cruel by over feeding their dogs, it can cause so many problems. I heard someone say "You may as well feed that dog rat poison and get it over and done with quickly" to another person that was over feeding their dog and I thought that's quite a good way of putting it!

Re: weight for staffy
I know exactly what you mean, mother in laws vet said she needs to lose about 5-8 pounds....yeah right! More like 14-20 pounds!!
And her husband will say; oh it's not fat, it's muscle.....
Humans! Tsk tsk!
