Re: bloody blisters
If you don't get the right walking wear be it trainers/wellies/shoes your gonna get blisters if you wanna keep walking the distance. Also socks can rub

Re: bloody blisters
Have you thought of trying to wear two pairs of socks at a time. It sounds odd but it will stop the rubbing. I used to do this when I went hill walking.
You can buy liner socks which are thinner than regular socks which go under your normal socks.

get jesus sandals. forest hikers do that cause the sweat makes your skin softer and more likely to blister

Re: bloody blisters
Hmmmm .. I've had a few pairs of Merrells, and though I dont find them water proof enough for me, they have always been comfortable enough and never rubbed .. were they sized to your feet correctly, and do you wear good quality walking type socks ?
I have been wearing Salomon boots for the last couple of years and they are very good (specially if you go for the higher priced one's) but if you pay say £150 for a pair of boots, that fit like a glove, and last for 5-6 years, the price really isnt that bad
