Panic..

Caley was happy enough this morning had two normal poos, then all of sudden she had a bad bout of diarrohea, creamy/yellow colour. She didn't seem too bad after ate a few dry biscuits. I left for work and my 16 year old took over. When he got up she was not too bad, now however she has been sick 4 times (her biscuits came back first and now it is a yellow colour) and she had another bout of diarrohea.

We thought we were being nice last night, we gave her some chicken, cabbage, carrots and gravy with her biscuits, my husband also just informed me that she drank out of the water bowl that is down for dogs at pets at home, could one of these have caused this. I have spoke to the vet and they said it could be or she could have picked something up, they told me to see how she goes over the next few hours and if she is still being sick to bring her in. My OH is on his way home now from work and Caley is sleeping at the moment. I am worried sick Sad

Try not to worry I am sure she will be fine, as the vet said, if continues then pop her in >Big Grin<

How old is your pup? Cabbage, carrots and gravy might be a bit too rich if its a young pup, especially if you've only been feeding a certain food every day. You can try plain bland chicken and rice, in small quantities to firm up the tummy. Also the vet can give a syrip which can firm up the tummy if the runs go on for more than 2 days. Young pups can dehidrate very quickly.

Don't worry too much. Pups do get bouts of tummy troubles which normally clear up quite quickly.

I agree with Chanty, human food's a bit too rich for a pup if it's used to commercial dog food & could have upset her. But it could be almost anything - the good news is that they normally get over it & bounce back really quickly!

she will be 14 weeks on Monday. I guess my OH thought he was being nice when he gave her it..hard lesson learnt. I will be happy once my OH is home and can monitor her better, she is sleeping on my son at the mo..this is just as worrying as when my boys get sick

Hope she is feeling better soon. Do you have any plain natural yogurt to give her ? Just a couple of teaspoons should do the trick to regain her tummys natural balance.

She has woken up from a 3 hour nap and is playing with her tyre and has drunk some water..the OH is home now so will be keeping a close eye...fingers crossed she will be ok.

It is only now I have realised just how much a part of our family she has become over this short time we have had her Love Struck

Bless her, pups always get bad bellies so I would try not to worry. Encourage her to drink a lot, non-rich bland foods always help. When mine get poorly tummys I give them natural fat-free yoghurt (just a few spoons) scrambled egg and brown rice and sliced cooked chicken breast.

update on Caley...total transformation, cannot believe she has gone from being really poorly to crazy pup again..lol I don't know whether to hug and kiss her or kick her up the bum Laughing

By yesterday evening she was running around trying to get our trouser legs and being her normal bouncy self, we gave her chicken and boiled rice which she demolished and she even had a little poo after which is on its way back to normal, she slept lovely and this morning is so hyper - small walk required I think - I gave her some of her dry biscuits which she again demolished and is even more hyper now - she has not been this nippy since before we could take her for walks, just goes to show what the exercise does for her - so hopefully back to normality today and PUPPY FOOD ONLY...
