6 month old puppy
Hi again, i have found another staffy which im thinking on buying, this one is coming from a KC reg breeder, and i have seen so far pics of mum, dad, and some of his siblins! I will be going 2 view the pup tomorrow evening.
I was wondering as a first timer, how long you would class a pup a pup for really? lol and is a 6 month old still trainible etc. Mainly asking as i have a one year old to think about, though i have been told that the dog lived with a two year old for 4 months and was great though needed reminding not to jump up when wanting to play (as all pups would be the same!) The dog came from the breeder but the people gave it back to her as the dog was never getting out on walks.
Like i said hes KC registered, health checked etc, looking threw pics of his sire it looks like hes been showed a few times (I found the breeder on the champdogs website)
This breeder along with some other breeders have all got facebook and thats where i have seen pictures of the dogs family, and the dog in question as a puppy, though waiting on recient pictures which she will be sending me tonight

Re: 6 month old puppy
Its reselling as it was not getting walked enough by the previous owner, and the breeder already has 3 boy staffys
We live in Aberdeenshire/Scotland/UK
We were going for either red, or red and white.
This is a link to the girl whos sellings facebook, the dog we are thinkg on getting is leo x Ember (This was it when it was younger ovb) His name is Titan.

Re: 6 month old puppy
I'd ask the breeder if you can go and see this pup & take your child with you. See exactly how they behave around each other.
Bear in mind, though, that you'll be taking on a 'teenage' dog & you'll need to be firm & consistent with him.
The fb link doesn't work.

Re: 6 month old puppy
We are going to view it tomorrow evening and my child will be there as its all depends how it acts round him.
I am on holiday for 2 weeks after thursday so would be straight to dog classes with him if we was to take it.
Try again as it works for me

Re: 6 month old puppy
Doesn't look a bad breeder, the sire's pedigree is very nice. The dam's has a little inbreeding at great grandparents, but nothing too horrendous.
If the pup is of a nice temperament then I can't see any problem.
Has she said that you can meet both parents as well?

Re: 6 month old puppy
I think he is very nice. Nothing wrong with getting an older pup and sometimes it's a little better because they have more bladder control. If he's already been taken back because of lack of walks it's likely he hasn't had alot of training and is in the teenage phase so he will require alot of consistant training.

Re: 6 month old puppy
I can't comment on buying a pup, you have already been given fab advice.
I got Moo at 10mnths ish, 3 homes prior, and she was so easy to train. They are fast learners as long as you have the time and effort.

Re: 6 month old puppy
Where i live has a few training classes every week so would be going there if I was going to take him and he will get lots of walks and playtime/ training everyday with us
Just got alot more photos of his parents and uncles/aunt and his sister, who came 1st at hammystaff championship and qualified for 2013 crufts .
Really looking forward to tomorrow but all comes down to how he is with my son.

Re: 6 month old puppy
I got Buster at 6 months. He has been harder to train than a tiny pup, but as long as you are consistant he will be fine. I have two young children - the youngest being almost 2 - and he is great with them although he can occasionally get a bit excited and forgets how big he is and can knock the youngest over, but that has only happened a handful of times in the 3 months we've had him. Buster was left outside with his previous owners and didnt seem to have any house manners or training so we really have had to start from scratch with him but we are getting there. I would go and meet him with your youngest and then see what you think. Good luck

Re: 6 month old puppy
Steven, you obviously have done your homework and are doing things the right way.
In my opinion I think a 6 month old will fit in better with a young family than a pup, better bladder control as someone has already said and not just as chewy as a 8 week old but still will chew and act the clown. No pining for litter mates and mother etc.
Molly is now 6 months and she is great, sleeps right through the night (she sleeps in the house) and when we let her out she goes straight to the toilet. She is great with our son (2 1/2) but sometimes she would get over excited and jump up!!
If you are happy with the pup I would go ahead if the price is right. You should not be paying full puppy price as you are effectively helping the breeder out by giving the dog a good home after it being returned.
He looks lovely, nice markings!!
Staffies are very smart and are easy trained although as someone else said he will be in the 'teenage years' but you will be fine if you be firm and persist!!
It is also great to get a dog of a reputable breeder as I am sure this lady is.
Good luck and hope to see some pics!

Hes a nice looking dog, from a responsible breeder. With some good lines tbh and he looks like a sweet little man! Did he get on well with your child?

Re: 6 month old puppy
Hello Steven , I've just paid 550 for my 8 week old pup and others I was looking at were around the 600 mark , so I would suggest you should be looking no more than 400, maybe Denise as a breeder can maybe give you some guidance on price expected. I think that what happens is the breeder would refund some of this to the person that bought the dog originally .
BTW From what everybody says then it looks like you've found yourself a good un

Sounds like a very good bargain and just reinforces the responsibility of the breeder where the money aint the most important thing

Good price for a very nice dog.
Re: the crate. Go for the biggest one you can afford that'll fit in the space you have. This is the one I got...

It was either this one or the next one up (I can't remember & I can't find the tape measure! )
