Re: Dermadex in 10 month puppy
Hi and welcome from me and Daisy
Hopefully you got a negative skin scrape at the vets but if not the vet will have prescribed treatment. What I would recommend in addition to this is trying to strengthen your pups immune system. I give Daisy enchinacea powder in her food, this one, I add it to her food for a month then have a month off, that way you don't lose the benefit.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NaturaBoost-echinacea-powder-250g-dog-immune-booster-/190381700878?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&hash=item2c53a2370e
I also give neem powder which is also an immune system booster but also deterrent against fleas and mites, this one and I add it about 4 days a week then 3 off.

I also give vitamin b complex tablets (human ones you can buy from the chemist) I tend to give one a day until I've used a tub of say 60 then have a couple of weeks off before I start again.
You maybe thinking this sounds excessive but Daisy had it extremely bad and was almost bald! There is a pic in the rehab section! The vet said she had a poor immune system and although she was treated and fully recovered it could come back. Touch wood she has been clear for over a year now.
Hope this helps xx

Re: Dermadex in 10 month puppy
Hi guys sorry late update well went to the vets and they don't think it's the dermadex he has a skin infection so on antibiotics for 2 weeks she said he may have an allergy?? So said see how the tablets clear up and if not any better when he is 12 months will start looking at allergy tests?? But I must say his skin is not looking as red today and not scratching as much so hopefully this will work!! She mentioned not giving him pedigree treats/foods etc any ideas? He doesn't actually have much treats and we feed him royal canin food so it's quality dry food so just a bit concerned as to what he could be allergic to??? Xx

Re: Dermadex in 10 month puppy
I was also wanting some advice on castration for Lenny when would people advise this to be done? We are not going to breed him he was bought purely for a pet for us to enjoy him and spoil him rotten!!

Re: Dermadex in 10 month puppy
a lot of breeders are doing this without know about how blue x blue is bad an good breeder will always breed back to black or black brindle, some will only use 2 black parents who has the blue gene....
Re: Dermadex in 10 month puppy
you need to find out what it is first, but you could start giving him super strength omega 3 or cod liver oil capsules daily that meant to be good for the fur
Re: Dermadex in 10 month puppy
Cheers for everyone's comments very kind as he's only 10 months old and still a baby we are going to just see how it all goes and monitor him and do what vets told us to and see it out!! He's still very happy and eating & drinking and good in himself so fingers crossed!!
