Home-Made Tick Repellent
We live in Exmoor and the ticks just seem to have gone nuts here, so this may be useful for anyone in rural areas.
Heston was getting at least 3 a week until someone suggested this home-made tick repellent recipe and we haven't yet had a sighting since using it:
2 Tablespoons of Almond Oil (a carrier oil for massaging)
10 drops of Lavender Oil
10 Drops of Rose Gardinia
I put all of these ingredients into a bottle to mix and store safely- you only need a bit each time, so it will last. I just pop a couple of drops onto Heston's collar if I know there will be long grass on the walk. I was also told that you can pop some of the solution onto a cotton pad and swab the areas ticks like most, but I didn't think it would be a good idea for short-haired/sensitive-skinned dogs incase of reaction upon direct skin contact.
Hope this helps anyone with tick problems who are looking for a more natural repellent

Re: Home-Made Tick Repellent
Luckily I don't get a problem with ticks here, but that's something to try if you live in an area that's bad for them, thanks!

Fingers crossed I've never even seen a tick before, but thanks for the tip.
We dont appear to have a problem with them here either, hopefully we dont.
