Would you comment on the weight of a dog?
Would you comment on a dogs weight?
If you saw a dog that was very thin or very overweight would you comment on their weight to the owner? There are more than one option so feel free to pick more!

If I knew the person & knew that they'd take it the right way I would say something - like recently with Dempsey's friend Pneuma. I felt she was too thin so I told her owner.

Same as you i'd tell someone i knew, i would be afraid to tell a stranger though.

I suppose it would depend on what the stranger looked like & whether it could be said in a nice way.

Lol like "ohhh how cute..hes a big fella aint he!" i would do that. But not a blatant omg that dog is grossly over weight!
My friend is in a rage because the farrier told me her horse was too fat (which he is) haha

I honestly dont think I would comment on someone else's dog unless:
A- I didnt like them
B- I thought it was in the dogs interest
C- I was asked for my oppinion

I get so p1ssed off with people telling me that Moo looks thin.
Overweight I think is obvious, but lean does not mean skinny!

but i think people genuinely dont know how actually lean a dog should be! like i have said, i got commented on how good lexi looked at the time she was actually UNDERweight and told my own "oh shes well built" line millions of times before her diet haha

I would say something but only if I knew the handler well

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?
I would tell someone, or I'd ask if the dog has a medical condition, because of it being either too thin or too fat.
In the end, it is for the benefit and general health of the dog, regardless if the owner takes offence or not.

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?
Yes I would and do say something, never come across a dog whilst out that I would consider under fed, but overweight ones all the time, as far as I'm concerned an overfed, under walked dog is abuse, and if the owner doesn't want to take responsibility for what they have done to their dog then they aren't fit to look after one in my opinion. I have been at both end of th scales in my adult life, at 10 stone when I was 18, to 18 stone last year and currently 17st now, my weight is my problem and self inflicted, my dogs weight is my responsibility as he is in no position to decide how much food is right and is incapable of taking himself for a walk, although as I've been writing this I've just noticed my 3yo son feeding him cuwtard creams from the biscuit tin

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?
If I know the person or dog, yes. I'd be tactful about it, though.

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?
In all honesty unless the dog was malnourished I don't think I would .. I wouldn't tell someone I thought their child was overweight so same goes for a dog owner.

Re: Would you comment on a dogs weight?
Well if I knew the person then yeah i would advise a diet.
I wouldn't offend someone I don't know by being really blunt about its weight. I would just ask why it's a bit chunky and then suggest and alternative.
But most people are fat themselves and we wouldn't go commenting on there weight would we???
