Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
Hi and welcome from me and Moo. As its 3 out of 4 dogs with this problem I would go to the vets, its not going to make you look like a bad owner but its been 3 months, I'd be a little concerned if it where me.

Sorry but it is too much of a coincidence for it not to be related , you really need to dig deep and take them back to the vets for further tests, you should never let a condition like this go for 3 months, they need to be checked

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
you have a related problem. If you really care about your dogs , and I'm sure you do , you shouldn't be hanging around worrying what people think. If you are really worried and can't afford the bills then you should go to the PDSA and maybe they can help you out

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
Hi & welcome.
I can only echo what's already been said. The first dog was taken to the vets, so you're not a bad owner! Most vets will have a payment scheme in place and will treat your dogs regardless of whether you can pay straight away or not.
If you're on benefits you can go to your nearest PDSA or Blue Cross & they might be able to help.
Either way, it's too much of a coincidence for 3 out of your 4 dogs to be losing weight if nothing else has changed in their routines. Can you think of any changes at all?
Personally I wouldn't be feeding mince with their dry food. It won't make them put weight on, and it could upset their tums.
What food do you give them? Which brand?

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
Why have 5-7 dogs (I'm losing track of how many...) if you can't afford to take them to the vets as and when required?
Madness.
They need to see a vet, full stop.

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
Hi welcome.
Im sorry you are having problems with them. It is most likely they have worms and fleas or perhaps they are stressed as being in kennel situations can stress out dogs very easily. There is definitely something going on, and if you DON'T take them to the vets then you will be a bad owner. If you can't afford to take them as said ask the vets about a payment scheme, or take them to a rescue. You seem to have a lot on your hands and maybe one or two dogs would be better for you financially.

Hmm obviously we are all gonna say take them to the vet. Or local PDSA if u are in benefits etc, phone around.
Other than that, the hairless could be mites at u say, are they treated regularly with something such as Advocate ? Which kills a while bunch of mites / worms etc....if not, do it.
Dont feed wet n dry, they digest wet n dry at different times so it's beat to put them on a complete food either wet or dry.
Best thing u can do for your dogs is get them checked, it's all part of being a responsible owner. Ring round different vets, some will charge less than others for a consultation.
Good luck with them and let us know how u get on.

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
Hello and welcome
Are the dogs with the problem related?
Scooby had hair loss when I got him, on his ears and head, the vet told me about a certain type of mite that staffs are prone to which tends come out up to 18 months, he said if it was this mite the only treatment is a special chemical wash that the vets have to do..so I don't mean to scare you but you need to get them properly checked..he said some can carry it and not be affected by it but they can pass it to their off spring - which is why I asked if they were related.
Luckily for me scoobs was ok and I put it down to stress of him being in kennels. Staffs don't like kennels.
As for the weightloss ?? But it all sounds linked to me..please get em checked as it will only get worse, make your dogs unhappy and cost more in the long run x

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
If they go outside, also check for wandering dew.. Horrible stuff for a lot of dogs and was the reason (I believe) for my pups hair loss. I go out daily now and check for it.

Re: Help please my dogs have lost weight and lossing fur
If you phone blue cross, they will help with the cost. It wont get better with out the vet, so lets be constructive
1- Get your babys to a vet, Speak to PDSA or Blue Cross ,your dogs dont need to suffer, theres help out there.
2- get pet insurance ( for futcher illnesses) you can get cover for as little as £6 a month per dog,
Good luck
