I'm sure Equi mentioned this not so long back! I also use drontal, for his weight you will need 2 tablets, I get mine online about £3 from chemist direct when I order her food Xx

If you buy the bigger packs its better deal, they say that you mustn't reuse / keep half tablets (save them for re use) but I think this is just a scam , so I keep the halves and wrap them in foil for next time.

I wouldn't change from the flavour as Tilly will just take them like sweets so it's really easy

Yes i used the bone ones, they were great. I only got two tablets which was fine for lexis size, so you might need thebigger pack which is about 30£ but it is worth it

Forget pets at home . looks like the internet is much cheaper , seems like these Drontal bone tablets are just the same as the flavour ones justr a different shape to make them more interesting . If I'm not making a mistake then these and ther flavour tablets are £1.73 each all over the internet whereas PAH sell them in packs of 2 for £9.99 and in 8 packs for £30, do the math !!

I use Milbemax as it covers roundworm, tapeworm, lungworm & heartworm. I get it from my vet as as when it's needed, although it can probably be got cheaper online.

I don't know about Drontal, but I know that Advocate is only effective against lungworm if it's monthly, whereas Milbemax is 3 monthly.

yep you feed it daily for 7 days to 'worm' your dog and then 1 or twice a week to keep it up. You just feed it every day if you want

It's just that it doesn't say on the blurb. I know most ordinary wormers aren't effective against it.

I just found this info from Drontal :

Q. What types of worm does Drontal wormers kill?
It is important to remember that different wormers kill different types of worm. For example, piperazine is active only against roundworms and hookworms, whereas Drontal Plus Flavour controls all intestinal worms found in dogs in the UK, and Drontal Cat Tablets do a similar job for cats.

Just for information

I'm happy that its pretty good Kathy , just a little uneasy about the Lungworm one as we do get a few slugs in our garden and dogs will be dogs, I may well look into the possibility of keeping them both on the Drontal and then getting something addirional that will do the Lungworm , but I think right now the best thing first is to speak to my Vet, I know he's good and not trying to push their products so I get a fair answer from him

This is what I use too. It also gets Buster into the vets once every few months to be weighed, have a fuss and a treat so that he doesn't just associate it with bad things Smile

This is what I found when I hit Google (lungworm)..................

There is a licensed medical product to prevent and treat lungworm called Advocate this is a spot on treament that is appiled to the back of your dog neck.

"Advocate is an ideal product offering
heartworm prevention
flea and lice treatment and prevention of flea infestations. The product can be also used as part of a treatment strategy for FAD (Flea Allergy Dermatitis)
gastrointestinal worm control including several larval stages
treatment of lungworms in dogs (Angiostrongylus vasorum)
control of ear mites in cats and dogs
control of sarcoptic mange in dogs
control of Demodex mites in dogs"

Advocate and Mibemax are the same class of chemical family. Our vet uses either of these Or 7 day course of panicure. They have warned us never to use them together as though Advocate for treating fleas and Milbemax for worms as it can be fatal - effectively it becomes an overdose.
obviously speak to your vet before using any prescription medicine.
hope this helps.

I won't use Advocate for two reasons; 1, because I don't use a flea treatment unless there's a problem, and 2, because Advocate is a monthly application & Milbemax is 3 monthly.

If you're not using a 'spot on' monthly treatment, then ask your vet for one that covers lungworm. My vet uses Milbemax, but there are others out there as well.

The problem with buying online is that you have to pay postage, and you need a prescription which the vet will charge you for. So unless you're going yo buy in bulk it's cheaper to get them from the vets.
