i am cross with my vet...!!
Hi all just really wanting some feed back as i have mentioned on afew posts before.
I know that these days there are many shapes and size staffords out there, and they do not all reach
KC or show criteria.
My Skye is a pure blue and is KC registered, she is alittle taller than others but not one of the really leggy staffies.
15inches too shoulder.
She is extremely fit and muscle bound, infact the vet i saw before this one said he was shocked at her age as she had the body teeth and overall health of a 3yr old she is 6 and half.
I took her for her yearly check up it was a new young vet and when he weighed her he told me she is too fat she is quite heavy for a bitch 21kilos but she doesn,t have an ounce of fat on her she is lean and hardly eats.
What do you all think??

As a general rule you should be able to feel the ribs but not see them, if that helps at all.
I love the first pic, what a stunner

Deffo not fat. Vets are like doctors, they go by weights and what they should be. Go with your own gut.

Re: i am cross with my vet...!!
Looks very healthy to me, just remember that muscle is heavier than fat so if she is muscular she will be a bit heavier.
Silly vet should have known that.

Re: i am cross with my vet...!!
Firstly, 15 inchs is not tall, thats a nice height for a bitch, also muscle is heavier that fat. I wouldnt worry to much, she looks great. I know when we've had Kenny weighed it was said he was heavy (21 kilos). But like your dog, he's all muscle, because he's walked regular. I should measure his height but not sure where his shoulder is lol. Is it at the top of his leg? I estimate Kenny between 16-18 inchs. x

Vets go by the book, if they read a book and it says 'a staffy should weigh 15kg' any stafford that doesn't is going to be overweight! You know you dog better than anyone, ignore him!

I agree with everyone else , she looks great! Vets like doctors are not always right. Heck on this forum alone you have probably seen/spoke with more staffys then your vet.
