Anything to help with shedding
Hi. I'm new to the forum and after some help.
We had a black/brindle staffy girl for 13 happy years. Sadly, we had to have her put down earlier this year. We have recently rescued a lovely staffy boy from our local dogs home. He's a beautiful Tan and white colour but for the month or so we've had him he seems to be constantly shedding. Clothes and carpets are constantly covered in white hairs despite constant brushing.
When we first had him we tried several foods but all seemed to give him diarrhea. We are now feeding him Pero SBT dry food and he seems to be thriving on it but it hasn't improved the shedding.
Does anyone have any ideas to either lessen the shedding or recommend a good grooming brush to remove the hairs easily?
Thanks in advance.
Rob

Re: Anything to help with shedding
Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
This article from K9 magazine may help:
http://www.k9magazine.com/dog-shedding/
Try adding a little fish oil to his feed a couple of times a week, sardines would be OK with the natural oil.
Make sure you dont wash him too often, once a year should be fine. He will lose the natural oils from his coat if washed too often, or with human shampoo.

Hi & welcome.
Have you tried using a rubber mit to stimulate the oils & hair folicles?

Hi
Good on you for rescuing
Food changes should be made gradually over about a week. As you've only had him a month and tried several foods, sounds like you've been changing too quickly which could explain the runs.
Pero isn't the best IMO and diet can have a big effect on a dogs coat. What other foods have you tried?
