Constantly shedding
Hi, can anyone "shed" any light on this or give advice. My staffy is constantly shedding, every day there's hair everywhere. It's not excessive but it's always happening. I know dogs shed at certain times of the year but the amount he sheds he should be bald

Re: Constantly shedding
Is he actually bald anywhere? The reason I ask is that my Flo is shedding a lot at the moment too but she not bald anywhere she wasn't before so I'm putting it down to the weather.
I even found a hair of hers in the sugar tub yesterday

Re: Constantly shedding
Dodger doesn't usually shed, but this year he has. I can only think that it is the weather.

Re: Constantly shedding
You could try running a Furminator through his fur. It'll remove all the loose stuff which must mean less goes on your furniture!

Re: Constantly shedding
thanks for the replies
he has no signs of baldness anywhere apart from the inside of his back legs which I'm assuming is the norm, and he is affected in no way shape or form by this constant shedding.
oh well, not to worry, just have to use the vacuum a bit more often
thanks

Yes, inside the back legs and the belly often have sparse hair.
Maybe you should ask for some recommendations for a vacuum cleaner that picks up dog hairs!

Re: Constantly shedding
Hank sheds a lot and still always has a lovely good thick coat, I find his hair literally everywhere. I was surprised at how much he sheds as I didn't think short haired dogs shed but I was wrong

Re: Constantly shedding
My friends dog sheds constantly and to be honest it's a nightmare. I put it down to her being a staffy mix (not sure what with though).
Both of us also have KC registered Blues from a champion lines and although expensive they were worth every penny as they don't really shed at all, certainly not in comparison to the mix.
I think the key thing is to find out exactly what a "cheaper" puppy's lineage is. Don't get me wrong she (the mix) is a lovely dog... but you're either constantly hoovering up dog hair, or you live in a furry house. Thinking by buying a "staffy" you'll get a short haired minimal malting dog only works if the dog is actually a staffy in the first place.
Just my 2p.
