Tysons was diagnosed with epilepsy 3 weeks ago! Has anyone else a staff with epilepsy? He is on two different tablets to control the fits as he was still fitting with only one. Its horrible to see and he is a different boy on the medication but the vet has said that he should get used to the tablets...I hope this is right.

Poor Tyson! Let's hope you can find the right balance soon.

I don't know if the following will be of any help to you...

Sorry to hear of your dog having epilepsy, I do not have any personal experience of a dog having this. Please take a look at the link below there is some useful info there.

Our Wolf x staff had this, i know how your feeling, its not nice to see them in this distress and confused state.

Ours was on Pheobaratone (think thats how its spelt) this helped for a few weeks and she didn't have any fits, but then she started getting them a lot more and more, it was happening a few times a week, so we spoke to a few different vets in our area, to seek their opinions on the symptoms, we was advised to take her off the tables to see if this made a difference and she stopped fitting after a few days, she ended up only having them once every few months which is easier to handle.

Im not saying this will be the same for your dog but its what we found with ours.

sometimes its a good idea to speak to other vets to see what they think is happening, always better to have a few different Vets opinions to see if they match up.

Hope you can help Tyson to fell better soon :-)

Good luck. We had a staff with epilepsy, but unfortunately he was put down. He did not respond to the medication at all, and it seemed to change his personality. That being said, Duke's epilepsy and seizures was a result of the L2 HGA deficiency.

I truly hope that you find the right balance of medication, as this really is not an easy situation, and not an easy sight to see you dog in such a state.

Please keep us updated.

im sure he will be fine, it the same with humans, if you put them on a strong drug it will change their behaviour for a while till they use to them !!
