Switching from Junior to Adult
Teds been on JWB Junior from 6 months of age. He's now 9 months.
I've noticed they seem to have changed the packaging and it dosn't say what age to switch to Adult.
What age is best? Could he be fed Adult now?

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
We feed Rocky JWB and we also started with the puppy version. We gradually introduced the adult food when he was 15 - 18 months old.

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
I have switched to adult at about one year. Make sure you do it gradually though as to avoid intestinal problems

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
Pups are fine to be fed straight on adult food, puppy food is a marketing gimmick. So you can start to swap over whenever you want

I put Diesel on adult food at 11 mths, wish I'd done it sooner tbh, seems to be better.

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
we put Tilly onto adult Wainwrights at about 11 months I think as the puppy stuff was nearly out , spent a couple of weeks mixing the 2 and she was fine. Didn't know about the puppy food marketing gimmick though Ella, I thought they were better as the kibble was smaller , don't know about the other brands though

Nope most are the same size, but it's basically the same ingredients, same nutritional value but alot of the time a higher cost.

Thanks everyone Now in the process of switching him over to Adult. Although the Puppy kibble was larger in size, Junior and Adult are the same. He seems to be loving the new flavour too.

Don't forget the size of the kibble is irrelevant, just think about pups that are weaned on to raw they eat the same thing as adults from a very young age, including whole carcasses which are a bit bigger then some biscuits

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
Looking at Diesels adult food and Tanks puppy food ingredients it's 99.9% exactly the same ! What a rip off !!!
Think I might just buy all adult food tbh.

What about the size of the chunks Ella , no problems ??? I know Tilly's puppy food was a bit smaller than her adult food (and TBH the price was exactly the same) - Wainwrights

Never really compared the puppy food to the adult version of the same brand. Interesting that they are 99% the same

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
Well your all gonna hate me ... but here goes
I feed puppy food till their 4mths old and then its straight onto Adult.
My dogs are feed one meal aday and a youngster is started on one meal aday from 6mth.
This works for me and my dogs are all holding a good body weight. None are fussy eaters and they all polish off their bowls at dinner time.
If they dont eat, then their starve till the next day.
One meal a day is what my parents followed and i the same. Years ago in my parents breeding days their was no such thing as puppy food. The pups were wean on boiled eggs, porridge rice pudding and the meat meal was chappie with may be on the odd day a meal of raw fresh mince meat.
Its all just a gimmick as already said

Re: Switching from Junior to Adult
Everyone does do it there own way Denise, i mean i feed raw and plan on feeding one large meal a day once Harvs abit older, but pups fed on dry food don't need the puppy food, 'lifestages' were only introduced a few years ago dogs were just fed adult food from pups as thats all there were.
It's all about the money!
