To me anyway he ir a staffy cross but it maybe his back end needs to fill out ? My kuma has the big figure now and her head is nearly matching her figure as its a little small.

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
I have always been under the impression that a staffs head most certainly does not split its just as u said the muscels start forming and defining, but when i mentioned it on here everyone said no there heads splits....but i didnt wanna start another debate at the time lol. As far as i am aware it does not split lol
This is a weird question but in that second pic is he crouching down to have a wee?? Oh and he doesnt look like a cross to me either x

You're right, their heads most definitely don't split!! They form muscles which attach at the top of the skull, unlike other breeds which attack lower down, and it gives them that indent on the top of the head.
He looks like a staff to me, and I'd say he looks around 12-18 months old. Quite a terrier type, but should fill out a bit more in the next 6 months to a year.

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
Doesn't necessarily mean small. Just means that he won't be quite as bulky as a 'bully' type. Terrier types tend to have longer legs, a slighter smaller head (but still big lol!) and are less bulky in the body. My old boy Bandit was terrier type - have a look here........

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
Dempsey's nearly 2 years old now, and he still crouches like that if there's nothing to cock his leg up - sheer laziness!!

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
He's ceratinly terrier type at the moment. He'll fill out in the next 6 months to a yaer, I should think.
I've always prefered the terrier types myself.

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
He looks to me about 12- 18 months old hes lovely. the staffordshire bull terrier is 50/50 terrier and bull mixed together so when someone says hes more terrier then he might be 60/40 at his age he wont grow anymore neither will his head but he will change shape a little with muscle development. You can never change his size/shape its determined by his genetic formation but you can ensure he is fit and healthy by excercise feeding ect. To me he is slightly more of terrier but still a lovely boy

Its really hard to tell though from a photo have a look at his teeth they should be white for a young dog not discoloured also check see if he has any grey especially under his mouth on his chin if he does hes probably older than what everyones saying

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
Best way to tell a dogs age is by looking at it's teeth. A dog over 18months will just start to build up a little plaque on their teeth. If they are still very pearly white then they are normally aout 12 months.

Not necessarily - depends what the dog's been fed on, and whether it's had its teeth cleaned.

Re: Can anybody give me a ruff idea on how old you think my staff is plz
I know I keep banging on about this, but the teeth can be very misleading. A dog who has had a good diet & regular teeth brushing (or a dog fed raw meaty bones with the ocasional teeth brushing) will have sparkling white & clean teeth. A young dog fed on tinned food without his teeth being brushed will have yellowish teeth with a tartar build up.
You can only correctly tell age from teeth in a horse, and even then it won't be totally accurate!!
