Which breeds mingle best with a Staffy at home?
We've been turned on to the thought of rescuing a needy dog in our area as there are just so many, including many Staffys. Our Rascal is a thirteen month old desexed female and mixes well with most breeds at the dog park but from a long term, co-habitation point of view, are there any breeds that seem to lend themselves better to sharing with a Staffy than others? Alternatively, seeing as there seem to be plenty of Staffys to choose from, is there a good age gap that folks would recommend and preference for male or female that would generally work best?

Never had 2 together but I think the general thing is to get a male and as long as you are around then get another staff
There are people here that have 2 females/males together so it can work also, not much help really!!

Good on you for considering offering a dog in need a home
Breed isn't a concern IMO; what's more important is finding a match based on activity levels/energy and temperament.
Generally, if you have a bitch then it's probably better to get a dog although don't rule out another bitch - there maybe a bitch at the dogs home that gets on with your girl like a house on fire and it would be daft not to consider her purely because she's the same sex.
If I were you, I'd have a chat with someone at the rescue centre, see if you can take your dog along and just spend a good bit of time there meeting the dogs and seeing which ones your bitch reacts the best to and vice versa

Good advice and you can't go far wrong . Guidelines wise I was told by a knowledgeadble lady called Barbarah at NWSBT that generally (and it can only be general) male and female make the best partnership and try and maintain a 2-3 year age gap, but you must take each case on its own merits, good luck and if I was to be making the choice I'd be getting another Staffy from the shelter , you know the breed and they are the one's that have the hardest time getting parole, but it's only what I'd do

Agree with what has been said, but i will add in that my two are both male at 1 and 2 years of age and being a staff and american bulldog, both are very stubborn breeds. However they are the best match for each other and are the absolute best of friends, so my point is it can work if you put the hard work in to begin with, with the meeting etc.
