victim c for dog

Was just wondering does anyone else give there dog victim c. Penny's breeder told me to give her victim c and calcium every day. And cod liver oil 4 times a week. Just wanted to know has anyone else come across this . And does it really make a difference

I give Olly cod liver oil everyday because hes had an op on a front leg ,the vet said it wouldnt do any harm ,but ive not heard about vit c !

never heard of giving vit c,what are you feeding?if you feeding a complete dried food they have victims added to them,each different make of food will be different thou i would think

not trying to alarm you but the main reason you would give vit c is if your dog or if its parents were known to have hip displaceure and it can help with the symptoms and the same with the other two are used for joint probs

If you're feeding a good quality food you do not need to add vitamins and especially not extra calcium supplements. Too much calcium can cause abnormal bone growths.

Although I've often heard breeders recommend adding cod or salmon oil to a pup's diet, I've never heard them recommend vitamin C or calcium supplements.

What are you feeding?

I'm feeding her red mill leader puppy its a complete dog food. I thought I sounded a bit weird. I asked the breeder at the time why I'd give her it and he say the vitamin c is good for there immune system and the calcium just to help her bones as she grows . He has been real help some far and all ways seem happy to help me with any question I have.

If your pup is fed a complete puppy diet then no added supplements are needed.
She is not a giant breed to need all this extra calcium.

The only time vitamin C can be given is if a dog gets kennel cough as it helps aid the dogs natural immune system fight off the virus.
