So my friend, after more than a year of refusal of all dog talk, has acquired a french bulldog.
I asked if she is KC registered and she says yes.
“Ah, ok” I say whilst off to research this unknown breed to me.
Puppy is blue with blue eyes, dad has folded ears ...

So this is when I come across a bunch of breeders who have developed the “extreme” category of french bulldog which “justifies” any colour that isn’t recognized by the breed. This includes all dilutes (blue and lilac), black and tan and going right to merles. The worst thing is that these extreme-labeled pups are sold for up to 7k Surprised .
Colour can sell anything.

KC frenchies already have a wide panel of health issues and risks, clearly this breeding for colour isn’t looking to help any of this.

How utterly utterly sad Sad

It's unbelievable what these so called breeders do to make money! They don't care for the health & lifespan of the dogs they pump out!
There is the new trend of pocket bullies, short legs & wide chest.
On my news feed the other day the Dutch KC are not recognising Brachycephalic dogs because of all their health issues. I think it's good as it may discourage these "breeders" from messing about with the breeds!

I agree with you Jen, except that these extreme frenchies, just like american bully dogs, are openly and clearly stated as not being KC. But you still get people encouraging these breeding practices by buying these poor pups and worst of all, often at prices exceeding those for well bred KC pups !

Utter madness all around.
More money than sense for all involved.

I work with someone who breeds these dogs... "all colours available".

It's so sad. @Jen, seems the Dutch KC have the right idea! We need to follow suit. 7k for a colour though. Madness. When will people learn!!
