Why did you give your dog its name

We call our Staffy Bella,

my mrs says because it means "beautiful"
I think its more to do with the "Twilight" films.

I tell people she is named after "Bella Baylis" the Ironman world triathlon champ.

What made you name your lovelys?

Moo came to me as Missy (a rescue), it turned into Missy Moo, and now just Moo, no real meaning to it really but it suits her!!

We knew we wanted a girlie and the name was decided in the car before we even saw her. Tilly was always my pet name for my daughter (it's a Northern thing don't ask me why ) and as soon as we saw her and we knew she fitted the name

we had a boxer called "Max" for some reason we used to call him "minnie moo" which turned in too Moo as he got older. Poor fella didnt know if he should * his leg or squat lol

My oh used to be a boxer (pugilist, not dog!) and always admired Jack Dempsey, the heavyweight boxer of many years ago. So although I wanted to call him Captain, I was overruled by my oh, son and daughter!!

He was a George at dogs trust but didnt react to it, after just one meeting of him I adored that big staffy smile thinking he looked like the Joker from Batman it was a natural selection as I also adore Heath Ledger

when we got sasha we were stuck on what to call her,a good friend of ours came round and said 'she's a sasha',her ears picked up so sasha she became!

Rocky is from a rescue centre and was already named Rocky. We decided to stay with rather it change it he had enough change to deal with already going to yet another new home.

When we found Rocky he was 1 year old and had already had 3 homes !!!!

my son named Scarlett , after he saw a golden lab advertising for dogs for the blind she was called Scarlett and when we first picked her she just had to have the name

I was calling them after Rizzo and Kenickie from Grease but i was over ruled as all our pets have star trek names so they became Captain Sisko and Kasidy Yates

gunner- come from arsenal football club the might gunners lol nd minnie cos when she was a pup kids thought she looked like a cow soo they called her minnie moo lol

Lexi, full title Lady Lexus...you might be able to guess it. Nice car that ;] and shes a ladyee.

Heston was originally named Theo at the re-homing centre, but we felt he would eventually grow out of this name. My partner and I are both chefs so it ended up being between Floyd & Heston... Heston was the final decision because his 'eyeliner' markings look like glasses!!!

ruby was rosie but when we rescued her we decided new life new name but she usually gets princess piglet

My family couldn't agree....2 days in we agreed on Rolo... a) his colour (Cadbury n Galaxy was far to obvious) and b) he can do a mean roly poly.... So we have a Roly Poly Rolo

Skye is because of her colour Skye blue although she gets called piggie most
Buster was origionally boss but it didn't suit him and he seemed to react to buster so it stuck

We wanted something the both Japanese speaking and English speaking people could easily pronounce. Suki means loving one in Japanese and it reminds English speakers of the character off of Tru Blood.

I got Saxon and gave him his name because of a dream. My grandfather died in January of last year and the night after the funeral I had a dream about him. In the dream he had gotten a little bull breed puppy and named it Saxon a few weeks before he died. The pup was white with red markings and a patch over both eyes. A month or so later, I answered an ad (without pictures) for a 5 month old Stafford puppy. I corresponded back and forth with the owners for a while and decided that I wanted to have the pup. I asked to see pictures and was taken aback by how similar this little dog looked to the pup in my dream. It was meant to be. So we brought him home, and called him Saxon.

Polly was Abigale when we got her from the RSPCA, on our way home after collecting her she, was far more interested in climbing up on my shoulder to look at our other dogs in the back of the car, just like a Polly Parrot so Polly she stayed

Charlie was called Dave by the RSPCA, once we got him home his character came out and he is a real clown, so he was Charlie Chuckles, he also makes noises like a baby chimp so Charlie Chimp suits him too

Like the coffee, she i brown like coffee and because she is from a J-litter.

Giwidos Bruce Almighty - Loke.
Loke i tok as a rescue dog and was already named Loke.

willow was named by the staff at the rspca, i had just planted a willow tree in memory of my last dog and my son was in willow class at school so we kept the name i think it was meant to be! chester was also named by staffy rescue but this was the name of one of willows brothers so we kept his name too!!

After seeing what right butch dogs Violets older brother and sister were, we decided she needed a soft, flowery name to counteract the butchness! We thought Violet was a bit more unusual than Daisy, Rosie, Lily etc (we went through all of Hyacinth Buckets sisters names!). Plus if she ever joins a rock band, her stage name can be Violet Violence

Lily was called KYA by the rescue centre after the registration of a car parked outside the rescue when they brought her there so we changed it to Lily. I always said that next time I got a dog is would be a girlie and I would call her Lily after my lovely mother in law - sadly not with us any more

Jethro got his name because me and my hubby both love Jethro Tull.

When we brought Winston home we had a few names we liked but couldn't decide there and then .. and then after a day or so we both said Winston it is..don't exactly know why!

He was called Matthew or Matty by the rescue centre.
We gave him a posh name Kapuni which is a Hawaiian phrase meaning "favourite one"
Day to day name is Kappi or Kaptain Herbert depending on what he's been up to >

Well, ours kinda came with their names already and we liked them. Pigglette was going to be Peggy Sue but she looks and sounds too much like a pig so Pigglette it is, but mostly I call her Pig. Get some interesting looks when I am out...

Vinnie is vinnie because my old rescue boy who had to be pts in october 2010 was named Diesel after Vin Diesel .. So we named Vinnie after Diesel by calling him Vinnie .. it was either Vinnie or DJ (Diesel Junior) =')

Skye was from a list of names me and my mom short listed for her before we collected her, my mom wanted to call my little sister skye when she was born but name her abbie lol, so as a nice gesture because my sister lives with her bf so dont see her very often we names her Skye

Well me and the other half always wanted two staffys named Bailey and Jackson . however we got our " year old lad and he was already called ziggy , at first i wasnt sure (people always think its after ziggy stardust , and assume we like david bowie eugh!) however its really stuck and he responded so well that we couldnt change it . Day to day its Zig , and if hes in a stubborn mood he gets the "ZIGGY!"

Tara was a rescue and they named her and it suits her very well.

Hooch my oh named him this because of the film turner and hooch one of his favs.

Stanlie is named after my dad it was my dads middle name.

Mazda - I named her Viper but too many people sed awww shes too sweet for a name like that after many names I sed right fook it next car I see thats it and there ya have it

Kodi - Was named Max (his mums names Pepsi & hes a only pup) but cos Maz & Max was too much I wanted to call him Junior but it didnt suit him, went thru loooooads and my mate just sat there said Kodi he looked up

I originally had Morgan in my head, but it didnt suit her, and as i was trying to figure a name out "Lola" by the kinks came on the radio, a song about a cross dresser, and she's a bit butch to be a proper lady, so it seemed appropriate

I named him after the film 'Troy'.

I like the name and thought Hercules in the film was a fantastic character, so there you have it.

We called our pup Jesse, but eventually that shortened to Jess...

But she usually gets Roo or RooRoo! Mostly because since the day we first got her she's made that sound when she speaks! Even barks sound like Roo! Its very amusing and the name just sort of stuck, she will answer to both names now, but Jesse is usually the *im in trouble* name now a days.

Butkus was named by my boyfriend who is a big fan of the rocky films.

Sylvester stallone's dog that was featured in the early films was Butkus. Not a staffy but a lovely dog.

That's how our staffy got his name

Pixee stayed Pixee which was given to her at the Blue Cross. We thought she had enough changes to put up with too, and the name did choose her it has stayed.

Ty was Tyson in rescue but i didnt think it suited him at all and he was scared of his name......as soon as u said it he used to tuck his tail up between his legs and lie on the floor I dint want to confuse him further, he responed to Ty and wasnt scared of it so there ya have it lol
Kaos is Kaos coz welll.....he's Chaos! lol Just thought adding the K was a bit different also my first hamster as a kid was called Kaos (my sisters was called Havoc lol)

We called ours Leo because i'm a big fan of Greek mythology but my GF didn't want a name that made him sound too tough so we decided to name after Leonidis, the legendary Spartan king.

Marley came from a rescue with his name but now responds to his more usual title "racing pig" as he's a bit overweight.

The plumber calls him "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeegerimawayfromme."

Jabba got his name becasue i love Star Wars & he was a pretty fat little thing when i first got him so i thought "Jabba the Hut" suited him. I also had a bird called Yoda who could whistle the star wars theme.

For me it is just the opposite. I wanted him to be plain Ty. His KC name starts with a T (Tedi) and I looked up Norse mythology and found Tyron so was happy with using just Ty. As a pup, he would play wrestle with me on the floor and nibble my ears. It soon evolved into Tyson and so it has stuck.
