have you ever give up a dog(s)?
Re: have you ever give up a dog(s)?
Twice, both times they were small fluffy yappy things. The first was a pomeranian that turned really vicious and would regularly attack me and my sister. The only person it liked was my mum and she HATES dogs so it went to my nan, who it became totally devoted to and died in its sleep when it was about 400 years old. The second was a poodle that we totally loved but it wasn't the smartest cookie and would regularly walk under my sisters wheels and get itself really hurt. So again my nan stepped in and again it became her little shadow. She had said she never wanted another dog after the pom esp not a puppy but he was like 2 and when she met him she fell in love. Theyre such a good match, he was deffo a grannys dog lol
I dont generally agree in giving pets away but in these cases it was best for the dogs, the pom would have been put down ccoutryside style if it went for us again and the poodle was going to end up getting severely hurt. We stick to bigger dogs that have a bit of a brain now lol

No never.
Rocky is only my second dog. The first one I had pts when she was 10 years old after she had her spleen removed. The vet said she would probably only live for another 6 months, she was pts 18 months later after being quite ill, poor girl. I still miss her so much but couldn't see an animal in pain.

Re: have you ever give up a dog(s)?
I can't say yes or no.
I lost my first to my ex, certainly not out of choice, I couldn't house her as I was the one that left.
Still had her every week until he stopped access, was like loosing a child. Tried to take it to court, but it was a civil dispute.
So yes I have given up a dog, but certainly not out of choice

We had one that ran away and i found it again like 3 years later! We fed him and put him back in his pen but he was gone again the next day and we didn't find him again

Yes we took a Border Collie rom a rescue at Macclesfield when little was known about his past (I now know that they should never have let him come to us in the first place with having a 3 year old. There was a couple of snapping incidents when we were not sure of the full story as not present at the time then my OH witnesed an unprovoked growl and snap so decided it was time for him to go back to the rescue. Sent him back with all his posessions that we had bought and a few tears but knew it was the best thing as woried around my daughter who was only 3 at the time , we kept in touch and he ended up with an OAP couple with no kids and was very happy with them for years to come, just a case of the right dog for the right people

I said no but Millie was my first dog so I don't have much history with dogs to go on. I've always had animals and never given up any of them. It's usually me taking them in lol. I've already made sure that if i was ill or anything then my family would look after them until I was able to.

Never Suki is my second dog, I don't really count my parents dog. I had an English Bulldog that lived 9 1/2 years and traveled with me to 3 different countries and 6 different homes.

I only would count them if you had a part in the decision. When I was growing up we had two GSDs that we gave up becuase they were very protective of me and would growl at my parents if they yelled at me

We took on a 2-3 yrold pure Staffy girl from a local rescue, had been run over and not chipped. She had been in a foster home for 4 months. Didn't know her name when we got her, was obessed with animals on TV and very possessive over toys. Tried for over 2 months to rehabilitate, made lots of progress but she was randomly DA towards Misty and other dogs. Also a very high chase instinct and too interested in kids with balls or sticks. After much heartache had to return her, unfortunately she went back to the same foster despite rescue promissing she would be placed elsewhere with a new foster carer experienced in such dogs. Had to accept that we were a poor match, the risk to other dogs and people was too great. She is still not in a permanent home.

Re: have you ever give up a dog(s)?
Very sad yes, after 4 years of owning my first staff we rescued another from Manchester dogs home, she was in a poor state, had pups young and chucked out. We had her a year, she was quite nervous and hyper but a real sweetie. We got pregnant which was fine until my partner at the time left me 31 wks pregnant, I had to move in with the parents who had a dog and a cat already, I had to make a heartbreaking decision to rehome missy as I knew I wouldn't have coped and my parents didn't want 3 dogs in their house. I took her to sbt rescue and lucky for her she was only in kennels a few hours before she found her new home...now when I look back I see I was a stepping stone for her..she'll be bout 12 now, I hope she had a good life.. it was one of the hardest things iv ever had to do..
