Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescues & Adoption

Please can someone help me!!!! i got a male staffordshire bull terrier from a rescues centre. We think he is nearly 2 yrs old. He has been here for 3 days and i am worried about when i tell him off for going on the furniture or on the bed he sit up and puts his head in the air does any one know why? thanks
