So what breed is this?
Obviously not Troy but the other.
Does it look like a pedigree Pitbull or is there really no sure way of telling?

Re: So what breed is this?
Its hard to tell, a lot of the game pits today are crossed with wippet and grayhound, by the look of the ears on your dog i would say it was a cruss, nice looking dog though, good luck with him

Re: So what breed is this?
That is a pitbull everything about it, square body shape/square head/muzzle including the floppy ears, pitbull are not these big beefy dogs people think they are, who ever deleted my post for saying that had no right it was in no way offensive and just because you probabilly don't agree and its quite obviousely it was a personal attack on me.

Is it really such a big deal if someone thinks it's a Pitbull and another doesn't? Why not state your opinions in a constructive way and educate rather than aggravate?
Ohhhhh the interwebz...
Why has that person been banned, did I miss something?

It's a shame. All the kids wanna look 'cool' with a Pitbull and get sold a dog they think is a Pitbull and pay stupid money.

Re: So what breed is this?
The vast majority of 'pit bulls' in the UK are crosses, I'm afraid. Yes, there are one or two people who are still breeding pure pitbulls, but there really aren't very many of them at all.

Re: So what breed is this?
It definitely what would be considered a pitbull type. But as for really being a pure bred American pitbull terrier I'd highly doubt it

Re: So what breed is this?
only people who got pitbull in the uk are the people who fight them they wont allow their lines to any tom, * or harry becasue they dont want their dogs sized! there are plenty of type around but these dogs are crossbreed to have similar looks to a pitbull.
we got number of breed in this country if you cross them togther they willl look abit like pit but it doesn't mean they are a true pit.
bull terrier X staffie
american bulldog x staffie
bull terrier x americna bulldog
Dogue de Bordeaux X staffie
boxer X lab
Lab X staffie
and so on if you crossbreed some will fall under pitbull type

Re: So what breed is this?
It's possible ... he is obviously a cross with a broad mouthed dog somewhere in his background, and deffo have seen dogs that look very much like him that I "know" are APBT, but really, my guess would be a cross of other "pit type lookin" dogs of dubious parentage

Re: So what breed is this?
Good looking dog but I honestly have seen so many pit x that I can say for sure I can't tell the diff from a picture. Also seen some that I thought were, but were something altogether different.
Marble, if that is a big boned pit, he is huge. Looks like a 100lb plus version (again, pics are really hard to tell from- and people are constantly mistaking breeds of a "type" anyhow). Doesn't really matter if they are good natured and healthy.

Re: So what breed is this?
big bone pitbull i have heard it all now that is never a pitbull that is more like mastiff x staffy
Re: So what breed is this?
next thing you be showing me so-called breeds like irish staffy, long leg staffy and so on big bone pitbull i have heard everything now sorry i cant stop laughing
Re: So what breed is this?
Lol. Don't think he was referring to it as in breed but that this is a monster pit (big frame on him). More of an adjective? Thats what I assume. I've seen some beastly sized ones here. Biggest one I saw was pushing 135 lbs. bit big for me.

Re: So what breed is this?
they not really pit they be american bulldog or mastiff cross there no way a pit could get that seize without crossbreeding
Re: So what breed is this?
They have done some crazy stuff here with them. I agree they aren't pure, but they are usually an x taken back over and over till they are huge. I believe amstaffs are not allowing new registers here for that very reason. I can't find the article right now but I will if I can. Agree though that it isn't what a pit should be at all (Certainly not conforming or even close to pedigree).

Re: So what breed is this?
you could understand we havinga similar problem here people are breding large staffy there was a website who had 21/19" kc registered staffy
Re: So what breed is this?
I don't get it. I prefer a conforming dog. That's why so many are in shelters! People need to stop experimenting!

Re: So what breed is this?
Steve calm down... Big boned as in frame... I agree alot with what your saying alot of these dogs have been cross bred with anything you can think of, all for money and status...
It is very hard for either of us to say what breed that dog is in the original photo.. It would fall under the pitbull type.. I personally think it is a x of some kind it has some pitbull characteristics..
The picture I posted is a APBT.. A large one at that.. I could tell you it's bloodline, it's whole family tree...been in the family 25years...

Re: So what breed is this?
that never been a pitbull it's crossbreed.... this why pitbull and staffy get bad names...
like i have said only people who has a pitbull in the uk are people who fights them they wont give theire dogs to any * or harry becasue if anything goes wrong it's easy to trace back to them.
there no doubt the dog will fall under type but any crossbreed will fall in under...
but if you have a type is doen't mean you have a pitbull it's a type that looks likea ban dog you cant confused the 2..

What is a ‘type’ of banned dog?
Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what it looks like, rather than its breed or name
A dog type is not a breed. Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what it looks like, rather than its breed or name.
If your dog matches many of the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier, it may be a banned type. This is because dogs with these characteristics are more likely than other dogs to cause severe harm if they attack.
It won’t matter what type or breed a dog’s parents were. (Cross-bred and mongrel dogs can have the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier.)
but if you have a type is doen't mean you have a pitbull it's a type that looks likea ban dog you cant confused the 2..

Not everyone with a pitbull fights there dog.... But very correct on the bloodline bit in the true pitbull community...
