Not real big on the fantasy authors but Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time is supposed to be very good.

Any series by Robin Hobb - highly recommended! Especially the Farseer series.

Have you ever read anything by Terry Pratchett. His Discworld series is great, its set on a world carried on 4 elephants on the back of a giant turtle.

The first one is called The Colour of Magic. There are about 40 books in total now I think and I have read them all.

Recommend a good book? Empty Best fantasy book

Post by schrodingers cat Sun Apr 28 2013, 16:19

For me the best by miles is "The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever" By Stephen Donaldson but i warn you its massive, I`ve read the first six then there was a gap while he wrote the final three. I had sort of accepted the end when i finished the sixth book, the gap before the next one came out must have been a decade, probably more. by this time i really needed to start from the beginning but what with working the most unsociable hours possible and the demands of looking after 3 dogs i haven`t got round to it yet but i will oh go on
