Puppy walking guidelines
So I understand the 5mins/month rule for walking on a lead
Gabbi is 3.5mths so i'm trying to stick to 15/20 mins max per walk
Questions;
1) How many walks per day does the 5mins/month rule allow for, can I do 2 or 3 walks at 15/20 mins or is this too much?
2) At what age does this "rule" no longer apply? IE. when can I start taking her for "long" walks of say 1-2 hours?
Thanks for any advice guys

Re: Puppy walking guidelines
I tend to give 5 mins per month per walk. So that would be 15 minutes, 3 times a day.
Really, you can follow that rule until they're about a year old, but you still shouldn't over-tire them till tehy are physically mature.
Don't forget, though, that the type of exercise makes a difference. Lead walking should be restricted to the above. But you could walk your dog to the park (5 minutes) let him off lead for a run around for 15-20 minutes & then walk back. As long as the pup is allowed to stop & rest as often as he needs to he'll be ok. Off lead play/running around is essential for building up the muscle mass that supports the joints.
